Inspiring Girls Through Football
In celebration of Children’s Day on 1 October 2026, 160 girls aged 11–17 took part in a special FFSL football programme at the Al-Mubarak Central College, Malwana.
The Biyagama Football League and Al-Mubarak Central College, Malwana, invited FFSL to conducted a special football programme for the female students giving many of them their first-ever experience of playing football.
Female coaches from the FFSL Women’s Department and Sri Lanka Women’s National Team players introduced basic football skills while encouraging the girls to dream big and explore the opportunities football can offer.
The FFSL Safeguarding Unit also conducted an activity to help students identify trusted adults they can approach when they feel worried or unsafe, promoting safety and wellbeing.
The initiative supports FFSL’s commitment to expanding girls’ participation and creating safe, inclusive and welcoming opportunities through football.
