We are an organisation promoting ‘Sustainability’ by providing services such as Knowledge Sharing, Marketing, Consultancy, and developing projects/activities in the areas of Renewable Energy, Water, Sustainable Agriculture, Ecotourism, and Green/Sustainable Products. Why do CSR / Sustainable activities?
• Several leading companies in the world (8000 companies) signed the UN Global Compact pledging
to show good global citizenship in the areas of human rights, labour standards, and environmental protection.
• Most Sri Lankan business leaders and companies have prioritised CSR as an essential part of business ethics. Thereby, encourage a positive impact through its activities on the environment, consumers, employees, communities, stakeholders and all other members of the public sphere.
• Now majority of PLC companies issue a CSR oriented sustainability report.
• Many companies now produce externally audited annual reports that cover Sustainable Development and CSR issues ("Triple Bottom Line Reports").
• The social responsibility of business has a direct effect on enhancing the following organisational factors: corporate profits or triple bottom line, human resources, risk management, brand differentiation and engagement.
• There is a heightened awareness of the need to behave and to be seen to visibly endorse good corporate citizenship; therefore consumers, by and large, are as self-motivated and self-interested in CSR affiliations as other stakeholders.
• In the current information age, customers have more access to information, and via social media, like-minded people more easily find each other, have their say and effect change.
• Care, Share, and Reach out to the less fortunate. Whether it’s Environmental Sustainability, or Community Involvement projects, or Ethical Marketing Practices; a big or small gesture by the company goes a long way in the social development domain. What are the objectives of 'The Sustainability Edge' Magazine?
• A common trend within companies is to highlight CSR activities only internally; and occasionally publicise on them in newspapers. Our CSR magazine provides the opportunity to share the organisation’s Corporate Sustainability projects and activities with all interested external stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, sponsor groups, and the wider community impacted by such initiatives.
• By publicising the organisation’s CSR activities on the CSR magazine; there will be brand development, and improved public relations.
• The magazine is also an ideal way for other companies to know participating organisation’s current CSR / CS activities. Thereby, creating opportunities to partner or work collaboratively within CSR projects and activities.
• Currently, organisations can gain island wide recognition through The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Best Sustainability Project Awards. This magazine aims to extensive inform Ceylon Chamber of Commerce – Sustainability; and provide a much more effective approach to discuss the direct of Corporate Social Responsibility within the organisations in Sri Lanka.
