Sri Lanka Girl Guides (Official) The SLGGA is a member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.

The SLGGA follows a values-based, non-formal educational programme focusing on community development, environmental awareness, primary health care, drug abuse prevention, the girl child, adolescent pregnancies, HIV/AIDS and the integration of the differently abled into normal society. The Association also stresses on leadership training to encourage girls and young women to make their own choices in decision making at all levels.

The Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association is delighted to announce the participation of Ms. Prarthana Liyanage, who will serve as a Listening Ear at the 39th World Conference of WAGGGS, to be held in Cambodia from 14–19 June 2026.
A former Asia Pacific Committee Vice Chair and Finance, Fundraising & Capacity Building Volunteer of WAGGGS, Ms. Liyanage brings significant experience in governance, leadership development, and volunteer engagement within the global Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting Movement.

As a Listening Ear, she will support delegates by fostering reflection, dialogue, and meaningful engagement throughout the Conference, contributing to a positive and inclusive experience for participants from around the world.

🌟 Nilshani β€œNilly” De Silva – Inspiring Inclusion, Breaking Barriers 🌟

Nilshani "Nilly" De Silva, a trailblazing disability rights advocate from Sri Lanka, represents the Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association and serves as a powerful youth advocate on the global stage. A former senior girl guide and Blue All-Rounder Cord recipient, Nilshani has leveraged her Girl Guiding background to become a prominent motivational speaker and teacher. Born with Down syndrome, she has shattered societal stereotypes and dedicated her platform to advocating for the inclusion of persons with disabilities.

Her major milestones include:

✨ International Representation: She represented the Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association as a youth delegate at the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) World Conference in Cyprus.

✨ United Nations Conferences: She was selected to represent Sri Lanka at the landmark United Nations Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).

✨ National Honors: She was recognized as the "Most Outstanding Woman of the Year".
