The Interact club of Isipathana College was charted in the year 1990 on the request of the Principal at the time late Mr.D.G.W.Jayasinghe by the Rotary Club of Cinnamon Gardens. 22 students mainly from the upper school and clubs, such as English Literary Union, Drama Society and Debating Team made up most of the founding membership. The following was a special year for the club as we received our
charter certificate from Rotary International on the 17th of November 1991. In the same year our charter President Int. PP Buhari Ahamath managed to win the 1st Citation award for the club and he being selected to serve the Interact District as the Zone Representative of zone 5 (Jaffna, Trincomalee and Batticaloa) in the following year clearly proved that the then babies of Interact were growing up fast. Under the presidency of Int. PP Azly Hamid the club was awarded the second District Citation award in our history for the Interact years 1994/1995. In the years that followed the Interact club didn’t show much notable activity, except for the steady growth in membership and the introduction of our 1st annual project “Shades of Green” in the year 1996. The Interact years of 1998/1999 Int. PP Ayeshan Artigala was the Club service Director in the District Committee and Int. Dilshan De Silva was the Project chairman of “Interaction 1998”. In the same year the implementation of the “5year plan” by Int. PP Hisham Jiffry was introduced. This was the same year that the Club won its 3rd District citation award. Uplifted by a strong performance in the previous year, the Interactors of Isipathana College got a boost to their activeness in service with Int. PP Adil Mohideen leading the way. Our club won yet another District citation award, the fourth in just ten year of existence. In the same year Int. Firzan Mulafer and Int. Ashik Aminudeen were both presented awards for best Interactor by the interact district for the services rendered. During the Interact years 1999/2000 Int. Hisham Jiffry served the District Committee as District Project Chairman for “Interflash 1999”. Moving from Strength to strength we come to the Interact year regarded by many to be the best year to date. The Interact Years 2000/2001 under the presidency of Int. PP Zahid Musafer the club walked away with three awards namely the fifth District citation award of our club History, The award for the best IU project (E-Interact) and the award for the most innovative annual report. In the Interact years 2001/2002 Int. PP Zahid Musafer served the interact District as the Community service Director. In the Interact years 2003/2004 Int. Shaad Hamid was awarded the Citation award for the Best President (top 10). In the year 2005/2006 immediate past President Int. Farhan Fazi was awarded as one of the best Interactors in the district and also the club ended up as the outstanding club of the year. So on the Interact club of Isipathana College was able to win six awards in the years of 2012 & 2013 at
the 23rd Interact District Assembly,

Int. Imaad Deen and Int PP. Aqeel Cassim were also elected for the Interact District Council 3220 – Sri Lanka & Maldives, for the years 2017/18. Zakib Faizal uplifted the club in many ways in the years of 2017/18. During the interact year 2018/19, Under the presidency of Int. Aaqib Hafeel, the interact club of Isipathana College received 8 citations at the 29th district assembly. The Awards are as follows

During the years of 2019/20, under the presidency of Int. Hansana Adhikari, the interact club of Isipathana College was recognised as a silver standard Club. The years of 2020/21 were the golden years in the History of ICIC. Under the leadership of Int. Saad Mazhar the club won the governor’s shield for the best interact Club in Sri Lanka & Maldives for the first time. With over 80+ initiatives throughout the year the club excelled in every avenue of service under the theme “Wisdom. Power. Change”. The club won the following awards at the district assembly.
