Hygieia Phase I 💧

The Rotary Club of Colombo City is constructing new sanitary facilities at Thalihungama Kanishta Vidyalaya, Thawalanthanna, giving students access to clean and safe toilets - the basic infrastructure every child deserves, but too many still go without.

💧 Every contribution, big or small, helps us get closer to handing over a facility this school can rely on for years to come.

Join us in building not just toilets, but dignity, health, and hope for these children. 💙

WORLD ELEPHANT DAY | 12 AUGUST 🐘

For generations, elephants have shaped our landscapes, sustained ecosystems, and shared this land with us.

Today, however, shrinking and fragmented habitats are pushing elephants and people into increasingly frequent conflict, and for these endangered giants, it is becoming a battle for survival.

Their survival depends on protecting their habitats, preserving the paths they depend on, and learning to coexist within the land we share.

On World Elephant Day, may we remember these magnificent shapers of the land and ensure that these endangered giants continue to have a place in our future.

🐘 Protect habitats. Preserve elephant corridors. Promote coexistence.

The Rotary Club of Colombo City was honoured to host the District Governor's Official Visit.

In the presence of District Governor Kumar Sundararaj, District Secretary PP Ian Iddamalgoda, Assistant Governor PP Nuzarath B. Farook and Assistant District Secretary PP Ishanth Sameera, we had the opportunity to discuss our plans and vision for the 2026–27 Rotary year. It was a valuable and inspiring session, with insightful feedback and guidance that will help shape the year ahead.

We were also proud to officially launch our upcoming Mangrove Restoration & Coastal Resilience Project – "Roots", marking the beginning of another meaningful initiative towards environmental sustainability and community impact.

With renewed inspiration and a shared commitment to the Rotary International theme, Creating Lasting Impact, we look forward to a year of service, collaboration, and making a meaningful difference together.

Maternal health often focuses on mothers, but this one prepares fathers to stand beside them.

පියසවිය, Fathers as Partners is a maternal and child health initiative designed to empower expectant and new fathers with the knowledge, confidence, and practical guidance needed to actively support mothers and newborns.

By focusing on fathers, this project promotes shared parenting, stronger family support, and healthier outcomes for both mother and baby.

The Rotary Club of Colombo City participated in the official launch of the $100 Charity Box fundraiser, a strategic initiative by District 3220 to bolster the Global Polio Eradication Initiative.

Hosted at the Kandy City Centre by the Rotary Club of Kandy, the event utilized the cultural premiere of "Rhythm of the Guitar" to engage the community in humanitarian service. Our members were present to support the fund collection, which will go directly toward vaccination and surveillance efforts worldwide.

Together, we remain committed to seeing the end of Polio in our lifetime.

Reflecting on a Global Milestone for Inclusive Education 🌍📚

The Rotary Club of Colombo City is proud to have participated in the Rotary World Disability Advocacy Inclusive Education Summit 2025, held on the 24th and 25th of October.

A major highlight for our club was seeing our very own President, Rtn. Janith Ittapana, take the global stage. Janith moderated a powerful session titled "Reimagining Education: From Standardization to Liberation" alongside the renowned global thought leader, Dr. Sigamoney Naicker.

It was an honor to represent Sri Lanka on this prestigious platform and to strengthen our partnership .
