🌍 How are countries financing climate adaptation?

National Adaptation Plans ( ) are key tools for identifying climate risks, prioritising action, and integrating resilience into development planning. But moving from planning to implementation requires sustained and accessible finance.

📊 Our latest policy brief examines the evolving support architecture for financing NAPs and the challenges countries face in mobilising resources.

Key insights include:
* Adaptation needs could reach USD 310–365 billion annually by 2035
* Yet international public adaptation finance was only USD 26 billion in 2023
* While 172 countries now have national adaptation planning instruments, many face barriers translating plans into action

🌍👩‍💼Women entrepreneurs are playing an increasingly important role in strengthening climate resilience and supporting local economies. At the same time, structural barriers including limited access to finance, markets, and networks continue to shape the opportunities available to many women-led enterprises.

As discussions on gender and climate action continue globally, including under the Belém Gender Action Plan, understanding how these dynamics unfold at the local level becomes increasingly important. 🌱

Our latest blog, published around the International Women’s Day 2026 reflects on these issues through insights from Sri Lanka and ongoing research connected to the : Climate & Innovation Hub.
