📍 Lion’s Head, Baguio City – Philippines
Charter Club Member & Club Director of Lions Club of Colombo Catalysts, Lion Demintha Surasinghe, recently visited the iconic Lion’s Head in Baguio City during his personal tour to the Philippines. 🦁✨
This majestic lion statue is a proud project of the Lions Club of Baguio, first conceived by Lion Luis Lardizabal and financed partly by its members and Baguio community. The project started in 1971 and was completed in 1972, symbolizing strength, unity, and service.
Unfortunately, the statue was devastated during the killer earthquake on July 16, 1990, but was later reconstructed through the dedicated efforts of the Baguio City Host Lions and Lioness Club, under the leadership of Lion Pres. Alfredo Delos Santos and Lioness Pres. Gloria A. Vergara, with the support of the city officials.
Today, it stands as a world-famous landmark of Baguio and a proud representation of the Lions movement’s legacy in the Philippines. 🌍💛💙
We are proud to see our own Lion Demintha Surasinghe standing by this monument of Lionism, reminding us of our shared values of service, leadership, and global fellowship. 💫
