The Scaling Up Nutrition Civil Society Network (SUN CSN) represents over 2000 national, regional and international organizations spanning multiple sectors, including; small-holder farmers, human rights defenders, women’s groups, humanitarian agencies, advocacy and research entities, consumer groups, trade unions and many others. The network includes national civil society alliances in 39 countries as well as four regional coordination groups.

We were pleased to host a field visit to the MOH Piliyandala area on 9th April 2026, in Arawwala village, during the visit of Ms. Amaka Odenigbo, SMS Asia Country Action Specialist.

The purpose of this visit was to showcase the strength of Sri Lanka’s primary health care system and to observe Mother Support Group activities in practice. The visit highlighted the valuable work carried out by the Diriya Aruna Mother Support Group, demonstrating community engagement and support for maternal and child health.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the MOH Piliyandala team and the SPHM for organizing this visit successfully and for their continued dedication to improving community health.
