Market day at Dambulla workshop! A small community fair took place at our Dambulla workshop recently, offering vegetables, fruits, and leafy greens. As the workshop is adjoining the Dambulla Divisional Secretariat, the marketplace attracted many passers-by
and visitors to the government office. This activity encouraged social interaction between workshop participants and the general public. It also helped build practical life skills, particularly in handling small transactions and communicating with the buyers to sell their produce.

We are proud to share that Sunera Foundation's Field Manager, Sandun Bandara Dissanayake, was featured on Sirasa TV News 1st programme.

During the programme, Sandun highlighted Sunera's work in empowering persons with disabilities through the performing arts, while advocating for greater inclusion, equal opportunities, and a more accessible society.

April brings a burst of colour and joy to Sunera’s workshops. Sunera participants along with their parents and trainers, step into the spirit of the season, dressed in vibrant traditional attire, sharing laughter over traditional Avurudu rituals, games, sweets and festivities.
Here is a glimpse of how our workshops embraced the Sinhala and Tamil New Year.

As Sunera celebrates 25 years of facilitating the social inclusion of persons with disabilities through theatre, we proudly felicitated our team of trainers led by the Field Manager, in recognition of their yeoman service and extraordinary dedication. Their dedication is what carries Sunera’s mission to every corner of the country.
The awards ceremony, held at the BMICH, honoured our field staff whose work goes far beyond instruction.
Many children joining Sunera workshops arrive shy, hesitant, or unable to function independently. With patience, care, and deep commitment, our trainers take them under their wings; teaching, listening, encouraging, and nurturing bonds built on trust, care and kindness. It is their gentle, consistent guidance that facilitates the transformation of the differently-abled participants gradually, as they grow in confidence to become independent. They come to see their trainers not just as mentors, but as friends and family.

In celebration of 25 years of Sunera Foundation, the fundraiser concert 'Sunera at 25: A Musical Celebration' featuring Rohan De Silva and Sujeeva Hapugalle was held on 3rd December at the Lionel Wendt Theatre.
The evening came alive with timeless melodies, creating a truly memorable musical experience in support of Sunera’s inclusive arts initiatives.
A big thank you to Rohan De Silva and Sujeeva Hapugalle for the beautiful music and for so generously supporting the work of Sunera Foundation.
