Big change doesn’t happen alone. It happens together.

From policy to plantations, from science to solutions, the Biodiversity Partnerships Project is bringing people, ideas, and action into one shared space.

This is what collaboration looks like when it works: government, private sector, scientists, and communities moving as one to power a greener future for Sri Lanka’s landscapes.

In line with World Earth Day 2026, Commercial Bank has partnered with the Biodiversity Sri Lanka (BSL) to restore a degraded fern land within the Kanneliya Conservation Forest in Halgahawala, reinforcing banks’ commitment to environmental sustainability and biodiversity conservation.

The objective of this initiative is to rehabilitate a one-hectare land block of heavily degraded rainforest, currently overrun by the fern species Dicranopteris linearis (locally known as ‘Kekilla’) which has potential invasive characteristics that hindered natural forest regeneration and reduced ecological value. Through scientifically guided restoration practices, the project seeks to transform this area into a resilient, self-sustaining forest ecosystem that closely mirrors its original state.
