From exploring real-world private sector integrations to discussing science-based targets, the event underscored how local actions drive global environmental resilience.

This World Oceans Day 2026, we join the global call for “Strong Marine Protected Areas for Our Blue Planet.” Celebrated every year on June 8, World Oceans Day reminds us that the ocean is not just beautiful, it is essential. It covers more than 70% of our planet, helps regulate the climate, supports incredible biodiversity, and produces at least half of the oxygen we breathe.

That is why strong Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) matter. When they are well-designed and effectively managed, they help restore marine ecosystems, protect endangered species, rebuild fish populations, strengthen coastal resilience, and support the communities that depend on healthy seas for food and livelihoods. They are also a key part of the global push to protect at least 30% of the ocean by 2030.

A thriving ocean is not a luxury, it is a necessity.

So this World Oceans Day, let’s champion stronger protection, deeper commitment, and real action for our blue planet.

Stepping beyond everyday workplaces and into nature’s laboratory 🌿

From office spaces to the forest canopy, the A&E and Jetwing teams visited the Life to Our Forests – Kanneliya site for a progress check, volunteer engagement, and hands-on learning about field techniques used in forest restoration.

Surrounded by lush greenery, the visit offered a refreshing and meaningful exercise beyond routine work life, encouraging teamwork, environmental awareness, and a deeper connection with nature.

Together, we learn, contribute, and grow toward a greener future. 💚🙏🏽

From boardrooms to beneath the forest canopy, the INSEE team visited the Life to Our Forests – Kanneliya site to witness restoration progress firsthand, engage in meaningful discussions, and listen to the way forward for long-term conservation.

Surrounded by lush greenery that refreshes the mind and inspires action, the visit highlighted the importance of collaboration, science-based restoration, and shared responsibility in protecting Sri Lanka’s forest ecosystems.
