The Organisation of Professional Associations of Sri Lanka (OPA) successfully convened a high-level seminar on “Energy Crisis and Sustainable Solutions: The Sri Lankan Perspective” on 13th May at the OPA Auditorium, under the auspices of the National Issues Committee-(OPA), jointly organized with the Seminars, Workshops & Programmes Committee.

A broad cross-section of OPA leadership, including its President, office bearers, past presidents, and members, came together in strong representation, reinforcing a national commitment to institutional strengthening, effective governance, and sustainable development.

The Sinhala and Tamil New Year Celebration 2026 was held on 26th April at the OPA premises, organized by the Organisation of Professional Associations of Sri Lanka (OPA) through its Social Events & Outreach Programmes Committee, under the distinguished patronage of President Mr. Jayantha Gallehewa.

The occasion was graced by the President, President-Elect, office bearers, past presidents, members of the OPA, and their family members, whose presence added warmth and vibrancy to the celebration. The gathering came together in a spirit of unity and cultural reverence, actively engaging in traditional rituals and customary games that reflect the enduring heritage of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year.

The Organisation of Professional Associations of Sri Lanka (OPA), through its Social Events & Outreach Programmes Committee, successfully implemented a community health support initiative on 25th April 2026 at the children’s Unit of Apeksha Hospital, Maharagama, the National Cancer Institute of Sri Lanka.

OPA is consistently using the expertise of its diverse professional members to support national health priorities and strengthen social protection systems, especially for high-risk groups like children with cancer.

A seminar titled “How to Secure Your Electronic Device: Legal and Technological Protection” on 7th April 2026 at the OPA Auditorium. The event was convened by the Law-and-Order Committee and the OPA Constitutional Amendments Committee. The session brought together a distinguished panel of experts, including Dr. Sunil Kavishwar, Dr. Sunil D. B. Abeyaratne and Mr. Ajith Rohana, Attorney-at-Law and a senior officer of the Sri Lanka Police. The seminar was moderated by Ms. Nishadi Rajapakshe, Member of the General Forum of OPA.

The seminar titled “National Risk Assessment and Mutual Evaluations on Anti-Money Laundering, Combating Financing of Terrorism, and Proliferation Financing of Weapons of Mass Destruction: Its Implications and Obligations for Professionals” was successfully held on 6th April 2026 at the Organisation of Professional Associations of Sri Lanka (OPA). The event was jointly organized by the National Issues Committee and the Seminars, Workshops and Programmes Committees. The seminar featured two distinguished experts: Ms. Theja Pathberiya, Deputy Director of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), Central Bank of Sri Lanka, and Mr. Sudharshana De Silva, PC, Additional Solicitor General of the Attorney General’s Department. The session was moderated by Mr. Bhanu Wijayaratne, OPA Vice President and Chairman of the National Committee.
