Our Story

Sri Lanka Sumithrayo is a government approved charity founded in 1974, by late Mrs. Joan De Mel and was incorporated by Act of Parliament No.10 of 1986. We are a non-political, non-religious organization focused on providing emotional support to help those at risk of su***de. Our organization is run entirely by empathetic volunteers who are available via telephone, email, and/or in person to provide confidential emotional support. We are open 365 days from 9.00AM to 4.00PM, and our services are completely free of charge. We have ten centers around the country in addition to Sumithrayo Rural Programme . (details below).
