Sri Lanka Unites

Sri Lanka Unites Youth Movement for Hope and Reconciliation For three decades these divisions have been deepened by armed conflict and opportunisitc political wrangling.

“We will not let the hatred of the past control the present and destroy our future”

Sri Lanka has long been divided along ethnic lines. With the conclusion of the brutal civil war, a new era has dawned upon us. Sri Lanka has been granted a unique and unmissable opportunity to learn from past mistakes, and find durable solutions for the future. The doors for reconcilitation and reconstruction have

now been opened. And it is time for the youth of this country to step through these doors with the conviction that the best is yet to come. In this critical period of transition, we have the opportunity to replace a culture of divisiveness and conflict and be a voice for change; for HOPE and RECONCILIATION. The Sri Lanka Unites movement represents this choice of Sri Lanka's youth, from all ethnic and religious groups - to rise up and provide a new voice. Vision:

To unite the youth of Sri Lanka from all ethnic and religious groups in a movement which provides hope and facilitates reconciliation in Sri Lanka, paving the way for a peaceful and prosperous Sri Lanka for future generations. To celebrate and value the diversity of Sri Lanka’s different ethnic and religious heritages, each of which enrich our lives as common citizens of Sri Lanka. To see the combined strength of all young people in our diverse nation used to secure peace and prosperity. To create a united Sri Lanka where young people are intentional about working together with members of different ethnicities, religions, classes and castes for the sustainable development of our beautiful nation. To transform the youth of Sri Lanka into people who have hope for their future and their country; who are proactive in working for the positive development of mother Lanka. Action:

Sri Lanka Unites will continuously take a multi-pronged approach to further the cause of reconciliation. We will instill reconciliation through our regional youth leaders. We believe that reconciliation comes not from the cosiness of a capital, but from the grassroots of a nation. We will bring to you success stories from across the country of people who are pioneering positive changes to drive our country forward. Meanwhile, remaining ever conscious of the current needs in the North. We will continue to actively engage in the humanitarian efforts there.

Winning isn’t everything—but unity is. 🌊🤝

Our Batticaloa RC team recently turned Katankudy Beach into a playground for peace! While the day was filled with vibrant games and laughter, the real magic happened in the "in-between" moments.

To create a safe, joyful space where children from diverse communities could build confidence and realize that teamwork matters more than a scoreboard. Watching these young leaders form meaningful friendships across different backgrounds is exactly why we do what we do.

In a world that often prioritizes competition, how can we teach the next generation that shared joy is the ultimate victory? 👇

A Nation United in Celebration: New Year 2026

Over the past weeks, the spirit of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year echoed through every Sri Lanka Unites Reconciliation Center across the island.

From traditional games to shared meals, our centers transformed into vibrant hubs of unity. While each region brought its own local flavor, the heart was the same: celebrating our shared heritage as one community. Our goal was to move beyond tradition to build lasting bridges of friendship and respect.

Peace isn't a feeling; it’s a skill we have to practice.

We believe that a united Sri Lanka starts in a safe classroom. Our recent program at the Annaiyin Karangal Education Center in Uruthrapuram, organized by the Sri Lanka Unites Mullaitivu Reconciliation Center wasn't just about activities; it was about creating an environment where youth could strengthen unity and master the art of non-violent leadership.

From group discussions that build communication skills to games that foster deep mutual respect, these students are learning that peace is an active, daily choice. We don't just teach these values to fill a curriculum; we teach them because responsible, peace-loving leaders are the heartbeat of a thriving nation.

Think about this: We often wait for "leaders" to create peace. But what if the most impactful leadership is simply the way you choose to treat the person standing next to you today?
