Sri Lanka has long been divided along ethnic lines. With the conclusion of the brutal civil war, a new era has dawned upon us. Sri Lanka has been granted a unique and unmissable opportunity to learn from past mistakes, and find durable solutions for the future. The doors for reconcilitation and reconstruction have

now been opened. And it is time for the youth of this country to step through these doors with the conviction that the best is yet to come. In this critical period of transition, we have the opportunity to replace a culture of divisiveness and conflict and be a voice for change; for HOPE and RECONCILIATION. The Sri Lanka Unites movement represents this choice of Sri Lanka's youth, from all ethnic and religious groups - to rise up and provide a new voice. Vision:

To unite the youth of Sri Lanka from all ethnic and religious groups in a movement which provides hope and facilitates reconciliation in Sri Lanka, paving the way for a peaceful and prosperous Sri Lanka for future generations. To celebrate and value the diversity of Sri Lanka’s different ethnic and religious heritages, each of which enrich our lives as common citizens of Sri Lanka. To see the combined strength of all young people in our diverse nation used to secure peace and prosperity. To create a united Sri Lanka where young people are intentional about working together with members of different ethnicities, religions, classes and castes for the sustainable development of our beautiful nation. To transform the youth of Sri Lanka into people who have hope for their future and their country; who are proactive in working for the positive development of mother Lanka. Action:

Sri Lanka Unites will continuously take a multi-pronged approach to further the cause of reconciliation. We will instill reconciliation through our regional youth leaders. We believe that reconciliation comes not from the cosiness of a capital, but from the grassroots of a nation. We will bring to you success stories from across the country of people who are pioneering positive changes to drive our country forward. Meanwhile, remaining ever conscious of the current needs in the North. We will continue to actively engage in the humanitarian efforts there.

🧹 Small Hands, Big Impact in Monaragala! 🌿✨

The amazing Children’s Club at MO/Rajyananda M.V. rolled up their sleeves to take action for a cleaner, safer school! 🏫💪

Together, the students conducted a successful Dengue Control Program across their school premises. They cleared out waste, collected polythene, and carefully inspected and destroyed potential mosquito breeding sites to protect their fellow classmates. 🚫🦟

Seeing young leaders take the initiative to care for their community’s health and environment is what building a brighter future is all about!

✨ Cultural Exchange 2026: Nuwara-Eliya Meets Ampara! 🤝🌿

From the cool mist of Nuwara-Eliya to the sunny coast of Ampara, our second exchange visit was filled with warm hospitality, deep connections, and unforgettable moments! 🌊☀️

A team of 14 students, staff, volunteers, and parents from Nuwara-Eliya traveled to Ampara to spend two incredible days immersed in local life.

Here’s how we built bridges together:
🏡 Village Home Visits: Participants visited local homes in Thandiyady Village to experience each other’s daily lives, traditions, and local food.
🍛 Community Kitchen: Both teams chopped, cooked, and prepared a delicious lunch together, building teamwork through food! 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳
🌊 Arugam Bay Memories: Relaxing, playing games, and building lifelong friendships by the ocean.

A huge thank you to our Batticaloa Staff Team for their incredible support in making this journey seamless, and to all the families who opened their homes and hearts! ❤️

✨ Cultural Exchange 2026: Gampaha Meets North! 🤝❤️

What an unforgettable journey! Our Gampaha Reconciliation Center team traveled to visit our Mullaitivu RC for a meaningful exchange filled with rich culture, new friendships, and pure joy.

Together, the Gampaha and Mullaitivu teams set off to explore 14 historic destinations across the North 📸, sharing late-night laughter and discovering how easily bridges are built when we come together with open hearts!

Here’s a peak into what we shared:
📍 Exploring History: Touring local cultural landmarks and scenic spots across the region.
🌙 Evening Vibes: Cooking meals together, late-night cricket matches, and talent nights.
🌾 Cultural Celebrations: A traditional Pongal ceremony, friendly games, and deep experience-sharing sessions.

This journey created a beautiful space for our children from both communities to connect, learn from one another, and strengthen unity, friendship, and peace. ✨

🚌 Ever wondered what happens when kids travel across Sri Lanka to meet new friends? ✨

Welcome to our Cultural Exchange Program, one of the most special initiatives at Sri Lanka Unites!

The idea is simple, yet powerful: children from one Reconciliation Center pack their bags to visit another center in a completely different region. From exploring local landmarks and tasting regional foods to sharing traditions and learning new languages, it’s a journey of discovery.

Most importantly, this initiative breaks down geographic and cultural barriers, fostering deep mutual understanding, appreciation, and friendships that last a lifetime! 🤝🌸

This year, we had two incredible exchange trips:

Continuing a partnership built since 2022, Sri Lanka Unites, the University of Ruhuna, and AIESEC in University of Ruhuna AIESEC Sri Lanka – and in coordination with our Matara Reconciliation Centre, successfully conducted the "Youth Space 6.0", a Leadership Development Workshop designed to strengthen the skills and confidence of young leaders.

Over the years, this collaboration has reached and trained more than 300 university students, with over 120 students participating in this year’s programme. Through interactive and experiential learning, participants strengthened their leadership, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and career readiness skills.

A special highlight of Youth Space 6.0 was the active involvement of Sri Lanka Unites volunteers, who have grown through various initiatives over the years. By facilitating sessions and sharing their own leadership journeys, they created a valuable peer-learning experience and demonstrated the impact of youth empowering youth.

Our sincere appreciation to the AIESEC in University of Ruhuna – for being a valued partner in this journey.

Together, we continue to invest in young people who are equipped to take initiative, work across differences, and contribute meaningfully to society.

KLC 2026: The Grand Finale & Closing Ceremony!✨

What an incredible, emotional, and unforgettable journey it has been! Day 3 brought the Kids Leadership Conference 2026 (Season 04) to a spectacular close with our official closing ceremony. 🏆🎉

Over the three days, we watched a beautiful transformation take place. Children who arrived as strangers from completely different regions, religions, and languages left walking hand-in-hand as lifelong friends. They proved to all of us that unity isn't just possible, it is our future.

During the final ceremony, our young changemakers were officially pinned and awarded certificates as graduates of KLC. They are returning to their hometowns not just as kids, but as ambassadors of hope and reconciliation! 🚀❤️

A massive thank you to our incredible mentors, volunteers, staff, parents and our partners Kindernothilfe (KNH) for making this life-changing week a reality.

The conference may be over, but their journey to LEARN, GROW, and LEAD has only just begun! 🌟

💧 When communities stand together, hope flows stronger than any flood.

For years, families in Gurugewatta, Kotugoda (Gampaha District) have faced a heartbreaking challenge. Every single flood season, their drinking water sources become contaminated, putting lives and children at risk.

Today, we took a massive step toward changing that story! 🛠️✨

Through the Cyclone Ditwah Emergency Relief Programme, the Sri Lanka Unites Gampaha Reconciliation Center, alongside our partners Kindernothilfe (KNH), stepped up to provide a sustainable solution. We successfully installed crucial water infrastructure, including two 1,000-liter water storage tanks with iron stands, submersible pumps, and full accessories to ensure continuous access to safe drinking water during future crises.

Over 100 community members gathered to celebrate this milestone! What makes this even closer to our hearts is that many of the children who actively attend our Gampaha Center programmes come from this exact village. Safeguarding their health and dignity is our absolute priority. 🏢🧒❤️

Working hand-in-hand with local government authorities and stakeholders, this project is more than just pipes and infrastructure, it’s an investment in resilience, health, and a safer future for all.

A massive thank you to everyone who made this possible. Together, we don’t just respond to challenges, we build a stronger Sri Lanka! 🤝
