What's new at Saara nilla? πΌ
It's been a beautiful time of learning, creativity, friendship, and community at our mini, urban Metta garden!π€Έπ½ββοΈ
Our garden is flourishing as ever, changing with the seasons and she continues to nourish us each week. Giving our garden a moment in the spotlight, as little changes have started taking place with our first Garden Day that took place in July, and we're excited to document this gentle transition in the months to come. π±π»
Throughout May, June and July, our children enjoyed a variety of activities that encouraged curiosity, self-expression, and hands-on learning. We explored spelling, writing, world history, rhymes, art, crafts, mindfulness, gratitude, and plenty of reading together. We learned about waste and proper waste management for a healthier life. Lots of rainy day artwork, stories written and illustrated by the children, quizzes, worksheets, games and laughter along the way! π§π½π§π½
One highlight was our Kitchen Day, where the children prepared Sweet Potato Pizza with vegetables and garlic bread, using sweet potatoes and neera leeks harvested from our own garden. π ππΏ
As Vesak approached, the children reflected on its meaning, enjoyed delicious homemade treats, and brightened Saara Nilla with beautiful lanterns made together with love. πͺππΎπͺ·
We also celebrated the wonderful mother's and fathers in our community with handmade gifts, cards, notebooks, cookies and heartfelt appreciation. Thank you to everyone who helped make Mother's Day and Father's Day so special for the families of SN. πΊπ
The highlight of August was our field trip to the Planetarium! ππ°οΈ
As ever, our warmest gratitude to the volunteers, parents, donors, and friends who enrich our community, and the heartiest thank you to our children, who fill Saara nilla with joy, wonder, creativity, and hope every single day. π«
