Politics is not just about politicians.
It’s about the future we all share.

Whether we choose to engage or not, political decisions shape our education, opportunities, freedoms and future.

Perhaps the question isn’t whether politics matters - but whether we can afford to ignore it 🤔

A recent CNN article looks at a growing trend in India.

Young people are gathering for bhajan clubbing. Traditional devotional music is being brought into modern social spaces. The atmosphere feels familiar to them. The music is ancient. The setting is new.

Many see it as a response to a question that has been asked for years.

How do we help younger generations reconnect with faith and spirituality?

Every generation searches for meaning.

The way they search may be different. But the need remains the same.

For years, we have spoken about young people moving away from traditional religious practice. Many have wondered whether religion must evolve to remain relevant.

Perhaps this trend offers one possible answer.

It also raises an important question.

Should religion adapt to meet young people where they are?

Or does changing the experience risk changing the very purpose of religion itself?

There may not be a simple answer.

But if new approaches encourage young people to pause, reflect and discover a deeper spiritual life, they deserve thoughtful consideration.

The goal should never be to make religion fashionable.

The goal should be to make space for people to find meaning, purpose and values that can guide their lives.

So…
* Can religion evolve without losing its essence?
* Are we too quick to dismiss new expressions of faith?
* Should we focus more on preserving traditions or on helping the next generation discover them?
* How do we create spaces where young people feel both welcomed and challenged to grow spiritually?

Reflecting on these trends and understanding the motives may be the first step towards keeping faith alive for future generations.

Outside the concert venue in Mumbai, the crowd of Gen Z office workers and teenagers is thickening. Event staff scan QR codes and fasten wristbands onto attendees’ wrists. Friends take selfies together as they wait in a queue. As night falls, the doors open and the nearly 5,000 attendees walk in.

🏮✨ Celebrating Vesak Through Creativity and Community ✨🏮

This Vesak, we invited some kids to take part in a Vesak Koodu competition, and the results were nothing short of inspiring.

The competition brought out their hidden talents, creativity, and imagination as they poured their hearts and souls into decorating their Vesak lanterns. Beyond the beautiful creations, it was wonderful to see the spirit of friendship, teamwork, and healthy competition that filled the day.

Choosing a winner proved to be the hardest task of all. Each lantern was unique, reflecting the effort, dedication, and artistic flair of its creator. Every child was a winner in their own way, and we are incredibly proud of what they achieved.

A memorable celebration of Vesak, creativity, and the joy of coming together as a community. 🏮💛

🌞A Day of Joy, Talent, and Togetherness 🌞

This Avurudu season, we had the privilege of celebrating with the children of the Mount Lavinia fishing community, and what an unforgettable day it was!

The festivities began with a vibrant welcome dance, choreographed and performed by the children themselves, showcasing their creativity and confidence. The celebrations continued with traditional Avurudu games on the beach, followed by a delicious Avurudu treat table and more fun-filled activities indoors.

What stood out most was the incredible enthusiasm, talent, and participation of every child. The day concluded with a wonderful talent show and the crowning of our Avurudu Kumari and Kumaraya, bringing smiles all around.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this special day possible. The energy, spirit, and resilience of these young stars reminded us what Avurudu is truly about - community, culture, and celebration. 💚

We got an opportunity to spend some time with kids from our Mt Lavinia beach community kids club. Dilini spoke to them about how “Rhythms” around us can help us to deal with our emotions and we had some games to help them understand the importance of team work and out of the box thinking. We also gave 60 kids school shoes and school bags for the senior group.

We have plans to conduct more programs like this in the future.

A big thank you to everyone who supported us 💐
