About Rosina Nanayakkara:
Rosina Nanayakkara was a woman of great stature who strove in her lifetime to lead a simple Christ-like life and so dedicated all the mental, spiritual and physical resources available to her to the service of those who needed them. She inspired the young women around her - family, students, teachers and friends- to respect the woman. She used her authority, talents and r
esources to empower the woman at all times. She was a christian who strove at all times to lead a christlike life; while she respected all religions and took pains to put into practice this respect, especially within the precincts of Sacred Heart Convent School where she was the principal for twenty five years, she fearlessly lived and proclaimed the christian principles which guided her own life. Peace she sought at all times. She lived a life of joy although ascetism was a hallmark of her life. She was a woman of principle who believed in social justice and living out the truth. She was unafraid to seek out justice outside the walls of the school. Because her own life was disciplined by simplicity and honesty she never shied away from meting out justice and provoking dishonesty. Puny in her physique her inner strength and awesome command and stature came from her closeness to Christ. She was a responsible citizen of the world. The thinking of Teilhard De Chardin inspired her. She respected his insight into the cosmos and the synergy of the human soul with the environment. She believed that the human soul will evolve into complete union with Love. She believed in and lived love, joy and peace. It is her strength of character, fortified solely by her love for Jesus Christ and fellow beings that prodded us onto establish the Rosina Nanayakkara Charitable Trust Fund to carry on her mission of love. It is our fervent hope and desire to let her spirit live on through the Trust.
