We are happy to share that on 5th April, we successfully handed over our house #18 to a deserving family of five — a mother, father, two daughters, and a son — in Bandaraduwa, Ampara.

This house was generously donated by Mr. Saman Wijesinghe and Mrs. Awanthi Wijesinghe. Their kindness has given this family a safe and secure place to call home.

Friends from the University of Colombo and Visakha Vidyalaya also joined us for the occasion, bringing many thoughtful gifts and sharing in this meaningful moment with the family.

A special thank you goes to Mr. Dasun Wasantha for his invaluable support in coordinating and collaborating this effort, as well as to the villagers of Bandaraduwa for their assistance throughout the process.

Together, we continue to make a meaningful difference — one home at a time.

Heal Sri Lanka – Cataract Surgery Project Update

We are extremely grateful to share that 53 out of 55 surgeries were successfully completed on the 31st March at Jaffna Hospital.

A heartfelt thank you to the staff of Jaffna Hospital for their care, dedication, and professionalism.

Special appreciation to Dr. Malarawan and Dr. Sarweshwaran for their outstanding support and commitment.

And our sincere gratitude to Ven. Sugana Thero for coordinating this entire effort and making it a success. We also extend our deepest thanks to all our generous donors — this would not have been possible without your support.

Lives have been changed today — restoring sight, hope, and dignity to many.

NOTE: The two patients who could not undergo surgery require procedures under anesthesia. Arrangements are being made, and they will be able to receive their surgeries soon.

Community Water Purification Unit

A water purification system was also donated to the Padaviya community, which will continue to provide clean and safe drinking water to the village community.

This project is in honor of Janmika Jayaweera and for the offering of merits to late Mr. Karunaratne of Karuna Trust, as well as to the parents of Venerable Suguna Thero.

This project was generously donated by Haresh Siriwardena and Harshini Siriwardena, handed over for public use on 1st March 2026.

House No. 12, generously donated by Saman & Avanthi Wijesinghe and Haresh Siriwardhana, was recently handed over to a family of five.

The father, who supports his family through daily wage employment, now has the stability of a safe and permanent home—bringing renewed hope and security for the future.

A tree-planting ceremony was also carried out, symbolizing sustainability, growth, and new beginnings. In addition, Heal Sri Lanka donated a water storage tank to support the household’s essential needs.

Friends who joined the visit from Colombo kindly contributed household items, clothing, and groceries, extending their support to both families as they begin this new chapter in their lives.

On the 1st of March, we successfully handed over House No. 11, made possible through the generous donations of Haresh Siriwardhena, Pasan, Nilantha, Dinushi, Kumudu, Mallika, Chandana, Rajith, and Samantha.

The beneficiary family from Padaviya Ruwanpura, who had been supporting their three daughters through farming and daily labour without a stable income, has now received a safe and comfortable home.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the donors and supporters who contributed to making this project a reality. Your kindness has made a meaningful difference in the lives of this family.

House No. 13 in Ampara marked a special milestone with its housewarming ceremony on 1st January 2025.

Although we couldn’t attend in person, we were delighted to welcome the donor, Mr. Muditha Abhayagunawardhana, yesterday as he visited the home and met the family. We extend our sincere thanks for his generous contribution, which made this project possible.

The second event on the 18th of Januray was a cataract and vision screening program for the villagers, including the assessment for cataract surgery and the need for corrective eyeglasses.

The medical screening was led by Dr. Asela Abeydeera, who generously volunteered his time and travelled all the way from Colombo to serve the community. Ground-level organization and coordination were carried out with great dedication by Venerable Suguna Thero and Mr. Sameera Bandara.

Over 450 people came forward for the screening, and we were able to examine 350 individuals for cataracts. Among them, 185 patients were identified as needing surgery—a reminder of the silent suffering many endure without access to timely care.

The program was held at the Bodhirukkarama Temple, where the atmosphere was one of compassion and calm. Refreshments were kindly provided by the temple and lovingly served by the Dhamma School children. Our team volunteered tirelessly to check vision, guide patients, and support them throughout the process.

While patients waited, an impromptu meditation session was also conducted, offering them a moment of peace and reassurance—turning a medical camp into a deeply healing experience for both body and mind.

A sincere thank you to everyone who helped in any way, you all made this day extremely memorable and your generosity has saved the lives of many.

On Januray 18th, we began the day with a first aid training program for the children of the Bodhirukkarama Dhamma School in Padaviya Sri Pura, as well as for adults from the community. The session was conducted with great care and dedication by Bill Hall and Ron Leuenberger, whose commitment and compassion made the program both engaging and impactful.

Watching the children learn essential life-saving skills, alongside the active participation of adults, was deeply encouraging and reminded us how empowering knowledge can be when shared with love and intention.

The third event of the day was a meeting with the students and parents who are beneficiaries of the Diriya Trust Fund scholarships. This initiative, too, was carefully coordinated by Venerable Suguna Thero.

Spending time with these families—listening to their stories, hopes, and aspirations—was deeply inspiring. It served as a powerful reminder that supporting education is not just about financial assistance, but about nurturing dreams and shaping futures.

We also donated a new home to a family of three, where the father is bravely battling chronic kidney disease.

This home was lovingly donated by Nomal De Silva and family, together with Kusuma. Seeing the family step into a place they can finally call home was an emotional moment for all of us and a reminder of how deeply meaningful such acts of generosity can be—especially for those facing daily struggles with health and hardship.

Essential household items were also donated to the family such as mattresses, bed frames, furniture, kitchen supplies, groceries and many more items by Gayathri Edirisinghe along with many others who attended the ceremony.

We deeply appreciate everyone who was able to donate. Their kindness ensured that the family did not just receive a house, but a warm, welcoming home—filled with comfort, and hope for a better future. A special thanks to Venerable Sugana Thero and Mr. Sameera Bandara for coordinating this event.

On the 17th of January, we travelled to Padaviya with a shared purpose and a strong sense of responsibility to serve those in need.

One of the most meaningful moments of the visit was the handover of the water purification unit to Padaviya Hospital. This generous donation, made by Saman Wijesinghe and Asoka Ramanayake, and thoughtfully coordinated by Sugana Thero, has already begun to change lives. With this facility now in place, the hospital can finally begin using its two newly built surgical theatres—spaces that had stood silent and unused for the last five years.

The water in Padaviya had been unusable due to hard water, large amounts of minerals in the water. Now, thanks to this purification system the hospital has clean water.

Thank you to all those who donated and made this possible. Your kindness is deeply appreciated and and will continue to improve lives.
