Michael’s Basketball Welfare Association has not been functioning for the last few years, we have newly formed a Basketball Welfare Association,titled as ‘St. Michael’s – Fr.Hebert Basketball Association’, in order to facilitate the Basketball prowess of our school. y; refurnishing all the precious photos that had been removed from the Bonnel block corridor and placing them where they were found before (all those photos had been removed from the Bonnel block corridor) unfortunately, now we were able to collect only a few old photos from them).See details below;
The basic objectives of the association are as follows
Preserving golden memories, memorials and the photos of the Basketball history of St.Michael’s College. Publishing a book on Rev.Fr.Eugene John Hebert S.J.and his tireless services in uplifting the basketball talents of our school.(See minutes of the meeting for further details)
Looking after the welfare of the school basketball team when needs arise. Bringing back the old glory of the basketball prowess of our school. Looking after the welfare of the members of the Association. Dear friends,since we are going to publish a book filled with all those photos of Basketball history of St. Michael’s college and the immense contribution of Rev.Fr.Eugene John Hebert S.J, please be kind enough to share with us any significant photos that you have, once had been hanging at the Bonnel block or any other photos depicting the sportive history of our school representing Championship, first and second runners up in all island competitions via this webpage within three months starting from today. The following Michaelites were elected to the special committee to achieve the above objective; and the minutes of the meeting is also attached below. 2. Reframe all the photos that were removed from the Bonnal block corridor and place them where they were before.
3. Publishing a Memorial Book about Rev.Fr. Rev.Fr.Eugene John Hebert S.J. The book will consist of:
• Information covering only the period of Rev. Fr.Eugene John Hebert S.J.( Basket Ball Period 1974 to 1990)
• Articles about Rev. Fr.Eugene John Hebert S.J.(Formerly published in papers, Website, & Rev father Miller works)
• Details, photos & paper cuttings of only the teams that won 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in A Division (All Island or National) School & Club Basketball Tournaments.
• Information and photos of the players who were selected to Represent Sri Lankan Team.
• Memories of the departed souls of Basketball players.
4. All the details, photos & paper cuttings will be collected via a newly created website.
5. This book will be edited by Mr. M.Narendran (senior Michaelite and Director of the Headway School of English Language) with the collaboration of the patrons.
