In accordance with the resolutions of the Kannagi Grama Monthly General Meeting held on 07/07/2026, the National Fisheries Cooperation Movement, in collaboration with the East Sun Women's Organization, expressed their confidence in the President and the government of this country and handed over the magazines to the relevant authorities today (22) to provide a permanent solution to the basic problems of the people of Kannagi Grama in Ampara District, including the issue of fish, elephant fences and drinking water.
The National Fisheries Cooperation Movement District Coordinator, Kalantar Issadeen, and Field Officer, Mr. K. Gokulan, along with a group of East Sun Women's Organization members, who visited the Alaiyadevembu Divisional Secretariat, handed over the magazines to the Divisional Secretary, R. Thiraviyaraj.
After this, the magazines were handed over to the officials of the Alaiyadevembu Pradeshiya Sabha and the National Water Supply and Drainage Board.
Kannagi Village - Land titles for 245 houses in Grama Sevak Division 01, 02 have not been issued even after 45 years. The villagers, who were affected by the war and resettled, are engaged in stone crushing, fishing and agricultural activities as their main occupations. In this situation, they are eagerly waiting to see when they will receive their land titles.
They requested the government to take urgent action to provide this as the initial steps have been taken by the Divisional Secretary in this government.
Even though the initial work on drinking water facilities has begun, due to the geographical location of this village, which is located in a mountainous area and is home to more than 650 families, drinking water facilities have not been available to many families so far. They requested that this also be expedited.
The public of Kannagigramam and neighboring villages like Puliyampath, Kapadapitiya, Merikambai, Shanthipuram are continuously being attacked by wild elephants and losing their properties. They also requested for a speedy resolution to this issue.

கண்ணகிகிராமம் - 01, 02 கிராமசேவகர் பிரிவில் உள்ள மக்களுக்கான 245 வீட்டுக்கான காணி உறுதிப்பத்திரங்கள் 45 வருடங்கள் மேல் கடந்தும் இன்றுவரை வழங்கப்படவில்லை. யுத்தத்தினால் பாதிக்கப்பட்டு மீளவும் குடியேறிய இக்கிராமமக்கள் பிரதான தொழிலாக கல் உடைத்தல், மீன்பிடி, விவசாய நடவடிக்கையில் ஈடுபட்டு வருகின்றார்கள். இந்நிலையில் தங்களின் காணி உறுதிப்பத்திரம் எப்போது கிடைக்கும் என்ற ஆவலுடன் எதிர்பார்த்துக் காத்திருக்கின்றார்கள்.
இந்த அரசாங்கத்தில் இதற்கான ஆரம்பகட்ட நடவடிக்கைகள் பிரதேச செயலாளரினால் எடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ள நிலையில் இதனை வழங்க துரித நடவடிக்கை எடுக்குமாறு அரசாங்கத்திடம் கோரிக்கை முன்வைத்தனர்.
குடிநீர் வசதி ஆரம்பக்கட்ட வேலைகள் ஆரம்பிக்கப்பட்டபோதும் சுமார் 650 க்கும் மேற்பட்ட குடும்பங்கள் வசித்து வரும், மலைசார்ந்த பிரதேசமாக அமைந்துள்ள இக்கிராமத்தின் புவியியல் அமைப்பின் காரணமாக, குடிநீர் வசதி இதுவரை பல குடும்பங்களுக்கு எட்டாத நிலை இருந்து வந்துள்ளது. அதனையும் விரைவுபடுத்துமாறு வேண்டிக்கொண்டனர்.
கண்ணகிகிராமம் மற்றும் அயல் கிராமங்களான புளியம்பத்தை கபடாப்பிட்டி அளிக்கம்பை சாந்திபுரம் போன்ற கிராமங்களைச் சேர்ந்த பொதுமக்கள் தொடர்ச்சியாக காட்டு யானைகளின் தாக்குதலுக்கு உள்ளாகி வருவதோடு உடைமைகளையும் இழந்து வருகின்றனர். இதற்குரிய தீர்வினையும் விரைவுபடுத்துமாறு வேண்டிக்கொண்டனர்
