Yesterday, our charity shop was robbed by two women in burqas who stole nearly £6,000 worth of jewellery, much of it donated by me (Kim) personally to help raise funds for the sanctuary. Every piece stolen was meant to go towards keeping the sanctuary open and caring for the animals who depend on us.
I can’t describe how gutted and deflated this has left me feeling. Sometimes it feels like a constant battle between goodness and evil. We work tirelessly to protect and care for vulnerable animals, only to face setbacks like this from people willing to steal from a charity.
But despite everything, we will keep going. The animals still need us, and we refuse to let people like this destroy what so many good people have helped build.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support, donate, volunteer, and stand beside us. Your kindness matters more than ever right now.

Another disabled dog, dragging himself along the roadside… this is the heartbreaking reality of life on the streets and chaotic roads of Sri Lanka.

While many choose euthanasia, we choose care, because we believe every dog deserves a second chance.

Meet Coco. He arrived suffering from:
• A spinal injury
• Blood parasite diseases causing severe anaemia and weakness
• Painful drag wounds
• TVT (transmissible venereal tumour)
• The need for regular bladder expression

Sadly, this horrific condition is all too common for the dogs who come into our care.

This work is not for the faint-hearted, but these souls deserve compassion, treatment, and hope.

If you believe dogs like Coco deserve a second chance at life, please support his treatment, care, and rehabilitation by donating here:

When Kim, our founder, arrived at the charity shop on Saturday, she found a parcel waiting for her. Inside was a beautiful album dedicated to a dog called Kalu, who had recently passed away. Tucked inside was a poignant note describing just how much this former Sri Lankan street dog had meant to one family.

This is the story behind that album, and a love affair that lasted many years.

Back in 2013, we rescued a young dog who had been badly beaten and was unable to stand. We named him Inness. He was a handsome boy, and thankfully, with care and patience, he slowly recovered.

A member of staff even found him a home, but Inness never forgot the abuse he had suffered. We suspected much of it had come from a woman, because whenever a local woman approached him, he reacted with fear, cowering, terrified, and sometimes aggressive.

The manager at the time fell deeply in love with him. After returning home to Scotland, she could not stop thinking about him and eventually made the decision to adopt him herself.

For more than a decade, Inness, renamed Kalu, became a treasured member of the family. He was there through the growth of the family, deeply loved every single day. He enjoyed long walks, cosy evenings by the fire, and more affection than many street dogs could ever dream of.

Although that love story sadly ended with his recent passing, the album now holds the memories of his remarkable life, and of the extraordinary good fortune he had to be given a chance that so few street dogs ever receive.

Rest in peace, sweet Inness (Kalu).

And thank you to the family who gave him the life he always deserved.

This is the disabled dog dragging himself around and getting drenched in the heavy rains in Neluwa.
There is very little hope for dogs like this in Sri Lanka unless we step in.
Named Shane, he is disabled, has wounds and is anaemic.
We are struggling with so many critical cases that depend on us, so any help towards his treatments/care costs would be hugely appreciated. 🙏🙏

Do you remember Di**le, the poor soul that we took in from the Thanamalvila area in March ?

This is an area renowned for severe animal abuses. Our disabled Phoenix was also rescued from there after surviving a brutal lynch mob attack that left him paralysed.. along with many other horrific cases of abuse that we have helped over the years.

Di**le was subjected to a boiling water attack, and his injuries on arrival were horrific and life-threatening. He also had babesia and Ehrlichiosis (tick-borne diseases).
However, despite the odds, we nursed him through like with so many others, and as you can see, his huge wound has healed well.

He won't be returned to the area where he was almost killed, so will stay with us unless he is found a loving home of course.

Please consider sponsoring this lovely boy, and helping towards weeks of treatments and care in our clinic.
This will enable us to continue this lifeline for dogs like Di**le.
