Meet one of our Podi Pack souls — Nico (25) 🇩🇪💙

Originally from Germany and now calling Vienna home, Nico (together with Carina) is the loving heart behind Lanka and Rice — two adorable former street dogs rescued in Sri Lanka 🐶🌴.

While working on his Master’s in Geography at the University of Vienna 🎓🌍, Nico divides his time between Austria and Sri Lanka, sharing a beautiful life with his partner Carina and their furry family 🏡🐾.

For Nico, being part of the Podi Pack isn’t just about rescue — it’s a lifestyle of compassion, purpose, and movement 💫✨. Between his studies, street dog missions, and bridging two worlds, he believes true change starts right where you stand 💪🌟.

We’re so lucky to have such a warm soul in our pack! 💛🐕

🌟 Meet Carina – One of Our Podi Pack Souls 🐾

Hi, I’m Carina, 26 — originally from Germany, now living in Austria, and lucky enough to spend a big part of the year in Sri Lanka. ✈️🌴

When I’m not flying around the world as a flight attendant, you’ll find me grounded in what I truly love: helping animals. Together with Nico, I adopted two incredible former street dogs who completely changed my life. 🐶💛

Being part of the campaign was such a meaningful chapter, and now, joining the Podi Pack feels like coming home to a mission that truly matters.
I’m here with a full heart, ready to keep making a difference for the dogs who deserve so much more.
Let’s give them the life they’ve always deserved. 🐾

🌍 Meet the Podi Pack 🐾
Hi everyone! We are The Podi Pack — a small, international team brought together by a big heart and one shared mission: our love for animals. 🐶🐱💛

We come from all around the world, but we’ve found our common ground in Sri Lanka, where we care for, protect, and fight for the lives of street animals every day.
We are a non-profit organization with a clear purpose: to support and protect animals in need — mainly street dogs, but also any other creatures who cross our path and need help.

Our dream? To grow and bring lasting change for animals — not only in Sri Lanka, but also in India, where many lives still wait for compassion.
We focus on feeding, medical care, sterilization, and raising awareness through education. Every rescue, every act of kindness, matters. 🐾💛

Through rescue, healing, advocacy, and love, we aim to build a better world — paw by paw, life by life.

Over the next few days, we’d love to introduce you to the humans behind the Podi Pack — the hearts, hands, and souls who make the magic happen every day.

WE'RE BACK! ✨

From to The Podi Pack – We're Just Getting Started! 🐾

For those of you who followed our first fundraising campaign, , you already know what a difference we can make together! Thanks to your kind help and to running the ENTIRE LENGTH OF SRI LANKA (!), we raised OVER £20,000 to improve the lives of Sri Lanka's street animals, with every penny going to Animal SOS Sri Lanka.

✨ Now, we’re keeping that momentum going as , a small (podi) but passionate group of animal lovers from around the world, united by the belief that every life matters. 🐶🐱🐮

As The Podi Pack, we're working on the ground, supporting street animals in both Sri Lanka and India, and working behind the scenes in Europe on some very cool merch designs and ideas to fund our next exciting projects!

Our aim is to collaborate with other individuals, groups and organisations on the same mission, supporting sterilisation and vaccination efforts, providing medical care to streeties and giving a better life to the animals living on the streets in Sri Lanka, India and beyond.

We also have very ambitious & exciting plans in the pipelines for our next big adventure, which most of us are hoping has nothing to do with running 🫣

We need your help to help more streeties! But don't worry, you don't need to run 450km, you can just bag yourself a cool new t-shirt instead 👕

From "Run for Their Life" to The Podi Pack – We're Just Getting Started! 🐾

We loved seeing so many friendly faces on Sunday for our meet up in Colombo! 🇱🇰

Despite the rain, people came from all over, armed with their umbrellas and keen to share words of encouragement and praise for for all that she's doing for the animals of (and not only running the entire length of the country!!)

Thanks to Kim, founder of , Sam and the rest of the ASOS team for joining us on the day and kindly topping up our dog biscuit supply for the last leg of the journey! And for all that you do every day for the animals who call the sanctuary their home and the others helped along the way.

Tomorrow Lucie & Lahiru will be reaching Colombo!!! 🇱🇰

We're so proud of how far both of them have come (even Ruru, on the bike 😜) but the journey so far has been far from easy...

From seeing the suffering of so many animals, to losing others, to multiple injuries for Lucie and a constant battle to push on with the run but also consider her long term health and well-being. Finding a balance has been tricky!

But finally, we're almost at our first meet up point...

The run is officially ON!

📍 Sakkotai Cape, Jaffna

To say that the past few days have been hectic would be a little bit of an understatement... But we're here for it!

Day One saw set off from the northern most tip of Sri Lanka in Sakkotai Cape, headed all the way down to the most Southernly point of this beautiful little island at Dondra Head Lighthouse 🇱🇰

Our first campaign day saw a beautiful early morning sunrise drive up to the cape, picking up a sick puppy from the road, a vet visit to check on a sick old dog we found on day 0, an ITN Broadcast deadline, as much filming as possible and a quick dip in the pool before leaving our first sponsored stay

Oh, and some slightly questionable tuk tuk driving from the support team after their lessons the day before 🛺 😅

Our girl has a long run ahead of her but alllll the determination to match 💪🏻
