“We’re living this pain every single day. And in the midst of it, we try, as much as we can, to heal wounds and bring back a sense of safety and reassurance to people, to remind them that they are in a safe place.”
In this video, Marc Tarabay, volunteer and president of Offre Joie, shares what has been unfolding at the Flora hospitality center. What was once a place of gathering has become a refuge for nearly a thousand displaced people from across Lebanon.
The center is entirely run by volunteers who have come together from different regions of the country to support families who have lost their homes and stability. Beyond providing shelter, the space has grown into a place of care and dignity, offering access to medication through partnerships with pharmacists, psychological support for children, spaces where families can breathe fresh air, and online schooling so children can continue their education despite the crisis.
This effort continues to grow as more families arrive and new shelters open to respond to the increasing needs.
Ways you can help:First, by joining our family of volunteers and helping on the ground;
Second, by helping us provide the essential needs required for the center;
Third, some people may be able to offer in kind donations. The list of needed items is available;
Every act of support, no matter how small, helps restore dignity, safety, and hope to those who need it most.
