Lebanon Reforestation Initiative Lebanon Reforestation Initiative is a Lebanese NGO registered at the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities under no. 1186 on 18 June 2014.

The Lebanon Reforestation Initiative started as a project launched in 2010 by the United States Forest Service (USFS) Office of International Programs (IP) through the support and funding of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

In February 2026, the partners met in person in Postane- Istanbul, Turkey, to discuss the operational definition of the map dedicated to mediterranean agroforestry initiatives. During the meeting, the group engaged in an in-depth discussion on which information should be included in each initiative’s profile and how to structure it in a clear, concise and functional way. The aim was to develop a simple yet effective technical tool, primarily designed for farmers, new practitioners, and territorial networks, capable of facilitating knowledge exchange and strengthening connections among different experiences. At the same time, the partners reflected on the potential role of the map as a tool to monitor the spread of agroforestry across the participating countries, while acknowledging the limitations related to data updates and voluntary participation.
في فبراير 2026، اجتمع الشركاء حضورياً في بوستانه – إسطنبول، تركيا، لمناقشة تحضير محتوى الخريطة المخصصة لمبادرات الزراعة الحراجية في حوض البحر الأبيض المتوسط. وخلال الاجتماع، خاضت المجموعة نقاشاً معمقاً حول نوعية المعلومات التي ينبغي تضمينها في ملف كل مبادرة، وكيفية تنظيمها بطريقة واضحة وموجزة وعملية.
الهدف من المشروع هو تطوير أداة تقنية بسيطة فعّالة، موجهة بشكل أساسي للمزارعين، الممارسين الجدد والشبكات المحلية، بما يساهم في تسهيل تبادل المعرفة وتعزيز الروابط بين مختلف التجارب. وفي الوقت نفسه، ناقش الشركاء الدور المحتمل للخريطة كأداة لرصد انتشار الزراعة الحراجية في الدول المشاركة، مع الإقرار بالتحديات المرتبطة بتحديث البيانات واعتمادها على المشاركة الطوعية.
MAPPING – Mobilizing Agroforestry Practices through Participation, Innovation, and Networking for Growth, co-funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ programme and coordinated by the Italian NGO Deafal, the project brings together organisations from across the Mediterranean, including partners from Turkey and Lebanon: Associação Terra Sintrópica (Portugal), Buğday Association for Supporting Ecological Living (Turkey), Lebanon Reforestation Initiative (Lebanon), Millepiani Aps Ente del Terzo Settore (Italy) and The Southern Lights (Greece).

On May 8, the LRI team spent a day at Arez Ehmej Conservation Park, walking through nature, sharing time together, and reconnecting with the landscapes we work to protect every day.

في الأوقات الصعبة، حتى اللحظات الهادئة في الطبيعة يمكن أن تُحدث فرقًا.

في ٨ أيار، أمضى فريقنا يومًا في محمية إهمج الطبيعية، بين المشي في الطبيعة وقضاء وقتٍ معًا وإعادة التواصل مع المساحات التي نعمل يوميًا على حمايتها.

Even in challenging times, small actions continue to grow into lasting impact. 🌱
On March 27, the EcoClub of SSCC Andket came together to plant around their school in Andket, Akkar, turning care for the environment into action.
Through every seedling planted, young people are helping create greener and more resilient communities for the future.
Supported by the Australian Government through the Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP) and implemented by World Vision Lebanon in partnership with Lebanon Reforestation Initiative, Mada Association and REEF, GDIR promotes inclusive regreening, biodiversity restoration, and community-led environmental action in Akkar Atika, Andket, and Kobayat.

رغم كلّ التحديات التي نمرّ بها في لبنان، تستمرّ المبادرات الخضراء بالنمو. 🌱
في 27 آذار، اجتمع طلاب النادي البيئي في مدرسة القلبين الأقدسين، عندقت لزراعة محيط مدرستهم في عندقت – عكار، محوّلين اهتمامهم بالبيئة إلى خطوات عملية على الأرض.
فمع كل شتلة تُزرع، يساهم الشباب في بناء مجتمعات أكثر خضرة وقدرة على الصمود للمستقبل.

بدعم من الحكومة الأسترالية من خلال برنامج التعاون مع المنظمات غير الحكومية الأسترالية (ANCP) والذي تنفذه مؤسسة الرؤية العالمية في لبنان بالشراكة مع جمعية التحريج في لبنان، مدى، وريف، بهدف تعزيز التشجير المستدام، حماية التنوع البيولوجي، وتمكين المجتمعات المحلية في عكّار العتيقة، عندقت، والقبيّات.

On May 1st, students from Besançon Baabdath came together for a walkathon, a collective effort built on small steps and shared intention.

On the same day, seedlings donated by LRI were planted within the school’s surroundings, turning that energy into something tangible and lasting.

It’s a simple gesture, but one that matters: creating greener spaces, strengthening connections to land, and reminding us that even in challenging times, action, however small, is still possible.

في الأول من أيار، شارك طلاب Besançon Baabdath في نشاط “Walkathon”، خطوة جماعية تعبّر عن المشاركة والعمل المشترك.

وفي اليوم نفسه، تم زرع شتول مقدّمة من جمعية التحريج في لبنان في محيط المدرسة، لتحويل هذه المبادرة إلى أثر ملموس على الأرض.

قد تكون خطوة بسيطة، لكنها مهمة: مساحات أكثر خضرة، علاقة أقرب مع الأرض، وتذكير بأنه حتى في الظروف الصعبة، ما زال بإمكاننا القيام بخطوات عملية.

On May 1st, we welcomed a group from Truth of the Gospel Church in Fanar to the Farid and Daad Karam Reserve for a day in nature.

Together, we explored the reserve, learned about its ecosystems, and hiked along Nahr el Joz, sharing time outdoors and reconnecting with the landscape. The day ended with a simple lunch in a peaceful setting.

As spring unfolds and summer approaches, these moments feel even more important. Despite the challenges in Lebanon, nature remains a space to gather, breathe, and reconnect.
في 1 أيار، استقبلنا مجموعة من كنيسة حق الانجيل - الفنار في محمية فريد ودعد كرم ليوم بيئي في الطبيعة.

تعرّفنا سويًا على المحمية، واستكشفنا تنوّعها البيئي، وقمنا بمسير على ضفاف نهر الجوز، قبل أن نختتم اليوم بغداء بسيط في الهواء الطلق.

مع بداية الربيع واقتراب الصيف، تبقى هذه المساحات فرصة للقاء والتواصل مع الطبيعة. ورغم الظروف الصعبة في لبنان، ما زال بإمكاننا أن نخلق لحظات هادئة ومفيدة.

Proud of our colleague , who is currently contributing to an international study in Spain alongside Oleg Lazovski, professor and researcher at EAE Barcelona.

At Lebanon Reforestation Initiative, we’re honored to be part of this work, which looks at how students across Lebanon engage with and understand their natural heritage.

Why does this matter?
Because the insights will help shape better educational approaches, ones that can strengthen awareness and action among younger generations.

The study will be presented this autumn at an international education conference, and we’ll be sharing more soon.

نحن فخورون في زميلنا Teddy Habchy الذي يشارك حاليًا في دراسة دولية في إسبانيا، بالتعاون مع Oleg Lazovski أستاذ وباحث في جامعة EAE برشلونة.

في جمعية التحريج في لبنان، نفتخر بمساهمتنا في هذا العمل الذي يدرس مدى ارتباط الطلاب في لبنان بفهم وحماية تراثهم الطبيعي.

أهمية هذه الدراسة تكمن في أنها تساعد على تطوير أساليب تعليمية تعزّز الوعي والعمل البيئي لدى الأجيال الجديدة.
