Lokman Slim Foundation In the early hours of February 4, 2021, writer, publisher, and filmmaker Lokman Slim was found murdered in his car in southern Lebanon.

The Lokman Slim Foundation aims to counter the culture of impunity in the MENA region around political assassinations.
تهدف المؤسسة إلى إنهاء ثقافة الإفلات من العقاب تجاه الاغتيالات السياسية Slim was a leading figure in the Lebanese intellectual landscape and an opponent to the ruling class, his criticism particularly leveled towards Hezbollah. Slim’s assassination belongs to a historical and current regional trend across the MENA. The use of targeted assassinations of activists, political thinkers and community leaders whose works challenge state-led or dominant narratives is a profound concern, both due to the loss of these key individuals and the wider impact of such killings silencing groups demanding political change. The Lokman Slim Foundation (LSF) aims to end the culture of impunity around political assassinations in Lebanon and the wider MENA region, and to see political dynamics in Lebanon and the MENA region grounded in ethics and based on the rule of law in a democratic state, where freedom of thought and belief are protected and where no political crime remains unpunished.

فجرَ الرابع من شباط/ فبراير 2021، عُثِر على الكاتبِ والناشرِ والمُخرج لقمان سليم جُثّةً هامِدةً في سيّارته في جنوبِ لبنان. كانَ لقمان سليم مَعلَمًا بارِزاً في المَشهَد الثقافيّ اللبنانيّ ومُعارِضاً شَرِساً للمَنظومة الحاكِمة، وجَّه انتِقاداتِه على وجهِ التحديد إلى حزبِ الله.
يأتي اغتِيالُ لقمان سليم في سِياقِ إقليميٍّ له تاريخُه وحيثيّاتُه في مِنطَقة الشرق الأوسَط. فالاغتِيالاتُ الموَجَّهة ضدَّ ناشطين ومفكِّرين سياسيّين وقادةِ رأيٍ، ذوي مواقفَ مغايرةٍ للسرديّاتِ الرسميّةِ المُهَيمِنة، تُشكِّل مُعضِلةً شائكة، إذ تَحرم المجتَمعات من شخصيّات رئيسيّة وتَلعب دوراً مُهمّاً في إسكات الجماعات المطالِبة بالتغيير السياسيّ.
تعمَل مؤسّسة لقمان سليم على إنهاء ثقافةِ الإفلات من العِقاب فيما يخصُّ الاغتِيالات السياسيّة في لبنان والمِنطَقة، وتَصبو إلى ترسيخِ التفاعُلات السياسيّة، في لبنان والشرق الأوسط، في مفاهيمَ أخلاقيّةٍ ركيزتُها حُكم القانون في كَنَفِ دَولة ديمقراطيّة تَحمي حرِّيّة الفِكر والمُعتقَد ولا تَتْرُكُ اغتيالًا سياسيًّا دون عقاب.

لقطات من اللقاء التعارفي الذي نظمته مؤسسة لقمان سليم وأمم للتوثيق والأبحاث بالشراكة مع مؤسسة فريدريش إيبرت (FES)، في إطار ائتلاف منارة العدل، وذلك يوم 17 تموز 2026 في يونيون ماركس، برج حمود.

حضر اللقاء معالي وزير العدل عادل نصار، وسعادة النائب إبراهيم منيمنة. كما جمع اللقاء عدداً من عائلات ضحايا الاغتيالات السياسية في لبنان، وخبراء قانونيين وممثلي منظمات غير حكومية ومنظمات المجتمع المدني.

شكّل اللقاء فرصة للتعارف وتبادل الرؤى وتعزيز التعاون بين مختلف الجهات المعنية، دعماً لمسار العدالة والمساءلة في لبنان.

Highlights from the gathering organized by the Lokman Slim Foundation and UMAM Documentation & Research, in partnership with the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, as part of the MANARA for Justice Coalition, held on 17 July 2026 at Union Marks, Bourj Hammoud.

The gathering was attended by Lebanese Minister of Justice Adel Nassar, MP Ibrahim Mneimneh, and brought together families of victims of political assassinations in Lebanon, legal experts, and representatives of non-governmental and civil society organizations.

The event provided a space and an opportunity for attendees to connect, exchange perspectives, and strengthen collaboration in support of justice and accountability efforts in Lebanon.

يسرّنا أن نعلن عن تمديد معرض "باقون" حتى 30 نيسان 2026، في يونيون ماركس، برج حمّود، بيروت.
يوميًا ما عدا الأحد، من الساعة 3 بعد الظهر حتى 7 مساءً.

"باقون" معرض فوتوغرافي يستذكر شخصيات سقطت ضحية الاغتيال السياسي في لبنان منذ عام 2005 وحتى اليوم. يضمّ مجموعة صور بالأبيض والأسود، تستحضر فيها عدسة إدوار إلياس آثار أولئك الذين دفعوا ضريبة الدم: عائلات مثقلة بالفقدان، أغراض تستعيد حضورهم، وأماكن تأبى النسيان.

We are pleased to announce that REMAINING has been extended until 30 April 2026, at Union Marks, Bourj Hammoud, Beirut.
On daily view, except Sundays, from 3 PM to 7 PM.

REMAINING is a photography exhibition that commemorates the victims of political assassinations in Lebanon, from 2005 to this day. Through a selection of black and white pictures captured by Édouard Elias, this project holds the memory of those who were taken by force: the families who carry the loss, the objects that keep presence alive, and the crime scenes that refuse to forget.
