The humanitarian crisis in Lebanon continues to worsen day by day as Israeli attacks persist across the country. The heavy bombardment of Beirut and other parts of Lebanon two days ago, which left more than 300 civilians dead and over 1,150 injured, followed weeks of strikes targeting primarily the South, the Bekaa Valley and the capital. These attacks have resulted in the destruction of vital civilian infrastructure, including medical facilities, bridges, roads, water pipelines, and fuel stations.
To date, more than 1,800 people have lost their lives, and over one million have been displaced. While 20% have found shelter in collective shelters, many others remain in precarious conditions, including in tents or public spaces.
Despite the fact that some of our own team members have been displaced, INTERSOS continues to provide assistance across the country. As our colleague in Lebanon, Paola Fappani, explains in this video, our teams remain committed to supporting those most affected.
