UNIFIL remains committed to supporting communities across south Lebanon as they continue to recover and rebuild.

Through regular engagement with municipalities and local authorities, UNIFIL seeks to understand local needs and provide support within its means and capabilities.

These efforts complement UNIFIL’s core role of monitoring developments and reporting on violations of Security Council resolution 1701, maintaining a visible presence, helping protect civilians, and supporting the extension of state authority in southern Lebanon.

By maintaining dialogue and cooperation with communities and local authorities, UNIFIL helps build trust and contributes to a safer and more stable environment in southern Lebanon.

‎تواصل اليونيفيل التزامها بدعم للمجتمعات المحلية في جنوب لبنان، فيما تمضي في جهودها للتعافي وإعادة البناء.

‎من خلال العمل مع البلديات والسلطات المحلية، تسعى اليونيفيل إلى فهم الاحتياجات المحلية وتقديم الدعم ضمن حدود قدراتها وإمكاناتها.

‎‏Peacekeepers monitor and report on developments, maintain a visible presence, liaise with the parties to help prevent escalation — all in support of stability.

لم يكن دور اليونيفيل يوماً فرض تنفيذ القرار 1701، بل دعم لبنان وإسرائيل في تنفيذه.

يقوم حفظة السلام بمراقبة التطورات والإبلاغ عنها، والحفاظ على حضور ميداني واضح، والتواصل مع الأطراف للمساعدة في منع التصعيد — وكل ذلك دعماً للاستقرار.

Despite lower levels of violence than earlier this year, the situation in south Lebanon remains fragile.

From 21 to 27 August, peacekeepers recorded 1,030 projectile trajectories, an average of 147 per day.

Behind these numbers is a continuing toll on civilians, with homes and vital infrastructure damaged and communities struggling to recover.

Peacekeepers continue to monitor and report developments on the ground, and work with the parties to help prevent further escalation.

The parties' commitment to resolution 1701 is essential to reducing tensions, restoring stability and giving communities a chance to recover.

رغم انخفاض مستوى العنف مقارنةً بما كان عليه في وقت سابق من هذا العام، فإن الوضع في جنوب لبنان لا يزال هشّاً.

سجّل حفظة السلام 1,030 مقذوفاً بين 21 و27 آب، بمعدّل 147 مقذوفاً في اليوم.

ولا تزال تداعيات هذا الوضع تلقي بثقلها على المدنيين، إذ تضررت المنازل والبنى التحتية الحيوية، فيما تكافح المجتمعات المحلية للتعافي.

يواصل حفظة السلام رصد التطورات على الأرض والإبلاغ عنها، والعمل مع الأطراف للمساعدة في منع المزيد من التصعيد.

إن التزام الأطراف بالقرار 1701 أمر أساسي لخفض التوترات، واستعادة الاستقرار، وإتاحة الفرصة للمجتمعات المحلية للتعافي.

Resolution 1701 remains the framework for stability in south Lebanon.

Its principles include respect for the Blue Line, cessation of hostilities, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory, and the extension of Lebanese state authority across its territory.

UNIFIL’s role is to support the parties, Lebanon and Israel, in implementing their obligations under the resolution – while monitoring developments on the ground, reporting violations, and supporting the Lebanese Army - الجيش اللبناني and local communities.

Full implementation of resolution 1701 ultimately depends on the commitment of the parties.

The longer-term goal remains clear: lasting stability and security, so civilians can safely return to their homes.

‏لا يزال القرار 1701 هو الإطار الأساسي لتحقيق الاستقرار في جنوب لبنان.
‏
تشمل مبادئه احترام الخط الأزرق، ووقف الأعمال العدائية، وانسحاب القوات الإسرائيلية من الأراضي اللبنانية، وبسط سلطة الدولة اللبنانية على كامل أراضيها.

يتمثل دور اليونيفيل في دعم الطرفين، لبنان وإسرائيل، في تنفيذ التزاماتهما بموجب القرار، بينما تقوم برصد التطورات على الأرض، والإبلاغ عن الانتهاكات، ودعم الجيش اللبناني والمجتمعات المحلية.

Behind every deconflicted humanitarian mission or UNIFIL activity in south Lebanon is a team keeping communication channels open.

“Impartiality is central to build trust… Those [relations] prove crucial to fix problems, to de-escalate,” said Colonel Thomas Labouche, Liaison Branch head

UNIFIL’s Liaison Branch serves as a bridge between the parties, helping prevent misunderstandings, reduce risks and resolve frictions when they arise.

خلف كل مهمة إنسانية جرى تنسيقها مسبقاً، أو نشاط لليونيفيل في جنوب لبنان، فريق يعمل على إبقاء قنوات التواصل مفتوحة بين مختلف الأطراف.

ويقول العقيد توماس لابوش، رئيس فرع الارتباط: «تُعدّ الحيادية أساسية لبناء الثقة… وتُثبت هذه العلاقات أهميتها البالغة في حلّ المشكلات وتهدئة الأوضاع».

يؤدي فرع الارتباط التابع لليونيفيل دور حلقة الوصل بين الأطراف، مما يساعد على تجنّب سوء الفهم، والحدّ من المخاطر، ومعالجة الاحتكاكات عند حدوثها.

There has been a lot of talk about “lines”, “zones” and other terms when referring to the situation in south Lebanon right now.

For the United Nations and UNIFIL, only one line is relevant: the Blue Line.

Established in 2000, the Blue Line is the “line of withdrawal” identified by the United Nations, as a reference to confirm Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanese territory.

UNIFIL monitors the Blue Line and reports developments in accordance with its mandate.

Any Israeli military presence north of the Blue Line constitutes a violation of Security Council resolution 1701 and is monitored and reported by UNIFIL. Peacekeepers also monitor and report relevant activities by non-state armed actors within the Mission’s area of operations.

يكثُر الحديث حالياً عن «خطوط» و«مناطق» وغيرها من المصطلحات عند وصف الوضع في جنوب لبنان.

بالنسبة إلى الأمم المتحدة واليونيفيل، هناك خط واحد فقط ذو صلة: الخط الأزرق.

أُنشئ الخط الأزرق عام 2000، وهو «خط الانسحاب» الذي حددته الأمم المتحدة كمرجع للتحقق من انسحاب الجيش الإسرائيلي من الأراضي اللبنانية.

تقوم اليونيفيل بمراقبة الخط الأزرق والإبلاغ عن التطورات وفقاً لولايتها.

أي وجود عسكري إسرائيلي شمال الخط الأزرق يشكل انتهاكاً لقرار مجلس الأمن 1701، وتقوم اليونيفيل برصده والإبلاغ عنه.

كما يراقب حفظة السلام الأنشطة ذات الصلة التي تقوم بها جهات مسلحة غير حكومية داخل منطقة عمليات البعثة، ويبلغون عنها.

Peacekeepers from almost 50 countries remain fully committed to their mandate, maintaining a visible presence across south Lebanon through daily operations, including patrols, monitoring, liaison and support for humanitarian partners.

Civilians bear the heaviest burden when conflict disrupts daily life. Families face uncertainty, displacement and concerns for their safety.

Every effort peacekeepers make to reduce tensions, prevent misunderstandings and keep communication channels open helps prevent escalation.

Instability is not in anyone’s interest.

UNIFIL continues to urge all actors to renew their commitment to Security Council resolution 1701, cease violations of the resolution and avoid any provocative action that could increase tensions or trigger further violations.

يواصل حفظة السلام القادمون من نحو 50 دولة التزامهم الكامل بولايتهم، والحفاظ على حضور ميداني واضح في مختلف أنحاء جنوب لبنان من خلال أنشطة يومية، بما في ذلك الدوريات والمراقبة والتنسيق ودعم الشركاء في المجال الإنساني.

يتحمل المدنيون العبء الأكبر حيث يتسبب النزاع في اضطراب حياتهم اليومية، إذ تواجه العائلات حالة من عدم اليقين، وقد تضطر إلى النزوح، وسط مخاوف على سلامتها.

On World Humanitarian Day, we honour the humanitarian personnel who lost their lives while helping others.

Their sacrifice is a reminder of the human cost of conflicts such as the one we have seen recently — and of the need to protect those who serve and those they serve.

‎‏In southern Lebanon, UNIFIL supports humanitarian partners assisting communities affected by insecurity, often working in difficult conditions.

Civilians, humanitarian personnel and peacekeepers must be protected. All parties must respect international humanitarian law.

‎في اليوم العالمي للعمل الإنساني، نكرّم العاملين في المجال الإنساني الذين فقدوا حياتهم أثناء مساعدة الآخرين.

إن تضحياتهم تذكّرنا بما تخلّفه النزاعات من خسائر بشرية، ومنها النزاع الذي شهدناه مؤخراً، وبضرورة حماية من يقدّمون المساعدة ومن يحتاجون إليها.

في جنوب لبنان، تدعم اليونيفيل شركاءها في المجال الإنساني في مساعدة المجتمعات المتضررة جراء الوضع الأمني، وغالباً ما يعمل هؤلاء في ظروف صعبة.

يجب حماية المدنيين والعاملين في المجال الإنساني وحفظة السلام، وعلى جميع الأطراف احترام القانون الدولي الإنساني.

The past two weeks have seen a marked increase in Israeli military activity in south Lebanon. Between 5 and 16 August, UNIFIL recorded an average of 137 projectiles per day, including 208 on Saturday and 185 on Sunday.

As tensions rise, civilians are once again paying the highest price, with many families displaced or forced to change their daily routines because of insecurity and uncertainty.

Peacekeepers maintain a visible presence by patrolling, monitoring, clearing routes, reducing explosive risks, and facilitating humanitarian access.

Resolution 1701 remains the framework for restoring stability, and renewed commitment by all parties to its principles is essential.

شهد الأسبوعان الأخيران ارتفاعاً ملحوظاً في النشاط العسكري الإسرائيلي في جنوب لبنان. سجّلت اليونيفيل، بين 5 و16 آب، متوسطاً بلغ 137 مقذوفاً يومياً، من بينها 208 يوم السبت و185 يوم الأحد.

مع تصاعد التوتر، يدفع المدنيون مجدداً الثمن الأكبر، إذ اضطرت العديد من العائلات إلى النزوح أو تغيير نمط حياتها اليومي بسبب انعدام الأمن وحالة عدم اليقين.

يحافظ حفظة السلام على حضور ميداني واضح من خلال القيام بالدوريات، ورصد التطورات، وإزالة العوائق من الطرق، والحد من مخاطر المتفجرات، وتسهيل وصول المساعدات الإنسانية.

لا يزال القرار 1701 الإطار الأساسي لاستعادة الاستقرار، ويُعدّ تجديد التزام جميع الأطراف بمبادئه أمراً ضرورياً.
