UNIFIL peacekeepers remain fully committed to fulfilling their mandate under Resolution 1701 until the very last day of the mission. They carry out hundreds of operational activities every day, on land and at sea, including some conducted with the Lebanese Army - الجيش اللبناني.

Despite challenges posed by recent hostilities, peacekeepers continue to carry out their mandated tasks, from daily patrols and road clearance to facilitating humanitarian missions and providing essential assistance to displaced and vulnerable communities.

Since the reduction in violence in late June, UNIFIL peacekeepers have gradually ramped up operational activities. This tempo will continue until the end of the mission’s mandate.

يواصل حفظة السلام التابعون لليونيفيل التزامهم الكامل بولايتهم بموجب القرار 1701 حتى اليوم الأخير من مهمة البعثة. وهم ينفّذون يومياً مئات الأنشطة العملياتية، براً وبحراً، بما في ذلك أنشطة تُجرى بالتعاون مع الجيش اللبناني.

على الرغم من التحديات التي فرضتها الأعمال العدائية الأخيرة، يواصل حفظة السلام تنفيذ المهام الموكلة إليهم، من الدوريات اليومية وإزالة العوائق من الطرق, إلى تسهيل مهام البعثات الإنسانية وتقديم المساعدة الأساسية للنازحين والمجتمعات المحلية الأكثر ضعفاً.

منذ تراجع حدّة العنف في أواخر شهر حزيران، كثّف حفظة السلام أنشطتهم العملياتية تدريجياً، وستستمر هذه الوتيرة حتى نهاية ولاية البعثة.

As UNIFIL approaches the end of its mandate, the continued relevance and importance of the essential tasks carried out by its peacekeepers in support of the people and security entities in south Lebanon stand out.

Peacekeepers monitor and report developments, while using liaison channels to prevent escalation and facilitate deconfliction.

Following the latest hostilities, they have helped reopen roads, restore access to civilian infrastructure, and detect and neutralize explosive hazards.

But challenges remain.

“The mission’s departure under the current volatile circumstances – and without having a robust alternative support arrangements – would create a significant security vacuum,” said Jean-Pierre Lacroix, UN Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations.

مع اقتراب موعد انتهاء ولاية اليونيفيل، تبرز أهمية واستمرارية المهام الجوهرية التي يؤديها حفظة السلام التابعون لها دعماً للسكان والقوى الأمنية اللبنانية في جنوب لبنان.

يراقب حفظة السلام التطورات ويُبلغون عنها، كما يعملون عبر قنوات الارتباط لمنع التصعيد وتسهيل فضّ الاشتباك.

وفي أعقاب الأعمال العدائية الأخيرة، ساهم حفظة السلام في إعادة فتح الطرق واستعادة سبل الوصول إلى البنية التحتية المدنية، ورصد وتحييد المخاطر المتفجرة.

لكن التحديات لا تزال قائمة.

وقال رئيس عمليات الأمم المتحدة لحفظ السلام جان بيير لاكروا: "رحيل البعثة في ظلّ الظروف الراهنة المتقلّبة - ودون وجود ترتيبات دعم بديلة وقوية - من شأنه أن يخلق فراغاً أمنياً كبيراً."

Peacekeepers maintain a visible presence by patrolling, monitoring developments, and clearing routes throughout UNIFIL’s area of operations. They identify and safely neutralize explosive hazards, helping make routes safer for peacekeepers to carry out their tasks and reducing risks.

Peacekeepers continue to identify and mitigate security risks, including unexploded ordnance and other explosive hazards, helping reduce threats to civilians and contribute to safer movement for communities, UNIFIL and the Lebanese Armed Forces personnel within the mission's area of operations.

يحافظ حفظة السلام على حضور ميداني واضح من خلال القيام بدوريات، ومراقبة التطورات، وإزالة العوائق من الطرق في مختلف أنحاء منطقة عمليات اليونيفيل. يعمل حفظة السلام على تحديد المخاطر الناجمة عن المتفجرات والتعامل معها بأمان، مما يعزز سلامة الطرق ويتيح لهم تنفيذ مهامهم ويحدّ من المخاطر.

Today, UNIFIL Head of Mission and Force Commander Major General Diodato Abagnara briefed troop-contributing countries in Beirut on the situation on the ground in south Lebanon, UNIFIL’s work under resolution 1701, and our continued support to the Lebanese armed forces and local communities.

He thanked them for their commitment to stability in the region and stressed the importance of continued international presence to support the parties in meeting their obligations under resolution 1701 and contribute to long-term peace in south Lebanon as UNIFIL’s mandate comes to an end.

Supporting communities as they recover and rebuild remains an important part of UNIFIL’s work in south Lebanon.

From a new waste collection truck and medical care to food assistance, support for schools and other activities for children, peacekeepers continue to respond to local needs, help restore essential services damaged during recent hostilities, and strengthen ties with communities.

‎ان دعم المجتمعات المحلية فيما تمضي في جهودها للتعافي وإعادة البناء يشكّل جزءاً مهماً من عمل اليونيفيل في جنوب لبنان.

On International Day of Peace, UNIFIL reaffirms the shared aspiration for peace, despite ongoing conflict.

“Peace is not something we address once a year; it is an enduring responsibility,” said UNIFIL Head Major General Diodato Abagnara.

UNIFIL patrols, keeps communication channels open to reduce escalation, and works with the Lebanese Armed Forces as they assume greater responsibilities in the south.

Lasting peace requires political commitments from the parties themselves.

Full implementation of UN Security Council resolution 1701 remains the objective and the basis for lasting peace and stability in south Lebanon.

في اليوم الدولي للسلام، تجدد اليونيفيل التأكيد على التطلّع المشترك للسلام رغم استمرار النزاع.

UNIFIL peacekeepers continue to support local communities in south Lebanon, helping them rebuild their lives and restore a sense of normalcy.

Working with municipalities, community groups and local partners, they support local fairs and markets, organize activities for children and women, facilitate humanitarian access and provide donations of essential items to people and institutions in need.

UNIFIL continues to support stability in south Lebanon, in line with resolution 1701, to help ensure security for all.

Peacekeepers regularly patrol, monitor developments along the Blue Line, and report the violations they observe to the Security Council.

Since 21 June, UNIFIL has recorded thousands of violations of resolution 1701. UNIFIL continues to work with the parties to help reduce tensions and support a return to stability.

As communities begin returning to parts of south Lebanon, families are working to rebuild their lives and restore daily routines after months of destruction and displacement.

For many families, returning home is only the first step.

Restoring essential services, repairing infrastructure, including water and electricity, and supporting livelihoods remain key concerns as communities work to recover and rebuild.

UNIFIL continues to engage with local authorities and partners to better understand communities' needs and support efforts to address them, within its means and capabilities.

مع بدء عودة الأهالي إلى مناطق من جنوب لبنان، تعمل العائلات على استعادة حياتها اليومية وإعادة بناء ما تضرر بعد أشهر من الدمار والنزوح.

ولكن، بالنسبة إلى العديد من العائلات، العودة إلى المنزل ليست سوى الخطوة الأولى.

UNIFIL today donated several vehicles and information technology equipment to Lebanon’s Internal Security Forces (ISF) during a ceremony in Tyre.

The support aims to strengthen the operational capacity of State security institutions in south Lebanon and includes 4x4 vehicles, computer sets, printers and smartphones.
