For many war injured children, recovery is not measured in days or weeks. It can take months, sometimes years, especially for children living with neurological and brain injuries.

In this video, Dr. Laith Haddad, Pediatric Neurologist and Epileptologist at the American University of Beirut Medical Center, speaks about the long journey of care for children from Gaza and Lebanon supported through the Fund’s programs in Beirut.

From rehabilitation and neurological follow up to the daily challenges children face as they continue to grow, healing does not stop once a child survives. It requires sustained care, consistency, and long term support.

كثير من الأطفال جرحى الحرب يحتاجون علاجًا يمتد لأشهر، وأحيانًا لسنوات، خصوصًا في إصابات الدماغ والأعصاب.

في هذا الفيديو، يتحدّث الدكتور ليث حداد، اختصاصي طب أعصاب الأطفال والصرع في مستشفى الجامعة الأميركية في بيروت، عن رعاية الأطفال الجرحى من غزة ولبنان ضمن برامج الصندوق، وعن معنى العلاج المستدام، من حيث المتابعة، والتأهيل، ورعاية طويلة ترافق الطفل في نموّه وحياته اليومية.

على خشبة المسرح الوطني اللبناني في بيروت، يقف أطفال حملوا الحرب على أجسادهم وفي ذاكرتهم، ليحكوا قصصهم بأنفسهم.

مسرحية "أوهن من بيت العنكبوت"، من إعداد رجاء بشارة، منسّقة التطوّع والنشاطات في صندوق غسّان أبو ستّة للأطفال، تجمع أطفالًا جرحى حرب الإبادة في غزة، يقدم الصندوق لهم العلاج في بيروت، إلى جانب أطفال لبنانيين يعيشون التهجير والعدوان.

العمل من إنتاج المسرح الوطني اللبناني، الذي يواصل تحويل المسرح إلى مساحة حيّة للأطفال والمجتمع، لا للفرجة فقط، بل للإصغاء أيضًا، وبالشراكة مع صندوق غسّان أبو ستّة للأطفال.

المكان: المسرح الوطني اللبناني، الحمرا، بيروت.

At the Lebanese National Theatre in Beirut, children carrying the weight of war on their bodies and in their memories take the stage to tell their own stories.

The play, “More Fragile Than a Spider’s Web,” by Raja Bshara, Volunteer and Activities Coordinator at the Ghassan Abu Sittah Children’s Fund, brings together children injured in the war and genocide in Gaza, who are receiving treatment through the Fund in Beirut, alongside Lebanese children living through displacement and attacks.

The production is presented by the Lebanese National Theatre, which continues to transform theatre into a living space for children and communities, not only for performance, but also for listening, in partnership with the Ghassan Abu Sittah Children’s Fund.

The number of wounded children in Lebanon continues to rise, even more than before the “ceasefire”.

With every new child arriving to us, the need for treatment, surgeries, and long-term care grows, placing increasing pressure on our program for children wounded in the war in Lebanon.

خسر لبنان مستشفيات بسبب التهديدات والاستهدافات الإسرائيلية، وتقلّصت القدرة الاستيعابية بشكل كارثي، فيما باتت عمليات نقل الجرحى، خصوصًا الأطفال، شبه مستحيلة مع استهداف المسعفين وتقييد حركة الإسعاف.

اليوم، ما يصل إلى 30٪ من المصابين بالقصف الإسرائيلي هم من الأطفال، أغلبهم مصابون بإصابات متعددة، وكثيرون فقدوا أحد الوالدين أو كليهما.

هذه حرب على الأطفال، ويجب أن تتوقف.

Hospitals across Lebanon are being forced out of service due to Israeli attacks. Capacity has collapsed, and reaching the wounded is becoming nearly impossible, especially for children. Paramedics are being attacked, and ambulance movement is heavily restricted.

Children now make up nearly 30% of those injured. Many are dealing with multiple injuries, and many have lost one or both parents.

This is a war on children. It must stop.
