Al Maydaneh Plain Wetland (MPW), Lebanon, has been officially designated as a UNESCO Ecohydrology Demonstration Site under UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme (IHP).

This designation reflects more than ten years of sustained efforts and successful activities carried out by the Lebanese Center for Water and Environment (LCWE) through previous and ongoing national and international projects, including RESMYLE and ABSDryBASIN. The site served as a Pilot Area within these initiatives, where field surveys and Living Lab activities were implemented.

This international recognition integrates the site into the Global UNESCO Ecohydrology Network, enhancing its visibility and credibility and creating opportunities for international cooperation, partnerships, and future joint initiatives.
