Today marks the 100th anniversary of the opening of the Maghen Abraham Synagogue in Beirut, a cherished part of Lebanon’s Jewish heritage and a testament to the community’s longstanding place in the country’s history. Lebanon was once home to dozens of synagogues and a vibrant Jewish community.
May the restoration of Maghen Abraham be more than the restoration of a building. May it be a reminder of what Lebanon can be - and a beacon of hope for a future in which all of Lebanon’s children, regardless of faith or background, can live together in peace, dignity, and coexistence.
May that promise be fulfilled. 🇱🇧
