SANAD is an independent non-governmental non-profit organization established in January 2010 in an effort to provide dignity and quality of life to terminally-ill patients and their families and the last and most precious times of their lives. Our focus is on the preservation of dignity and relief of suffering in patients with terminal illness in order to maintain the best possible quality of life

. We strive to empower patients and their families to become skilled in their own care and allow them to make informed choices that are in line with their values and beliefs. We aim to provide holistic care to address the medical, psychological and social needs of patients and their caregivers. This includes management of pain and other symptoms as well as treatment of medical complications. These services are delivered to patients regardless of nationality, religion, political affiliation, gender, diagnosis or ability to pay. SANAD is committed to researching and addressing policy challenges related to the provision of palliative care. In order to advance its mission, SANAD will also focus on advocating for the removal of existing barriers within the health care system that may affect the ability of individuals to access palliative care. In parallel, SANAD will also undertake extensive awareness raising activities at the levels of the community and the medical and nursing professions to facilitate a better understanding of the issues and the concepts behind hospice and palliative care in Lebanon. وجودكن بيعمل فرق كبير.

جزء من اللحظات اللي عاشها ممرضات وممرضو سند خلال مفاجأتنا الصغيرة لالهن بمناسبة يوم التمريض العالمي، بعد ما سمعوا رسائل من مرضى، عائلات، وزملاء تركوا بصمة بحياتن.

ملاحظة: تم إعطاء الإذن من قبل عائلة المريضة - رحمها الله- بمشاركة مقطع الأطفال الموجود في الفيديو.

At SANAD, our nurses are far more than healthcare providers. They are listeners, companions, sources of reassurance, and a constant presence through some of life’s most difficult moments.

To honor them on Nurses Day, we gathered for a special day featuring an emotional surprise of heartfelt messages from patients, families, and colleagues whose lives they have touched throughout the years.
The day was also filled with bonding activities, shared moments, and thoughtful gifts.

To every nurse at SANAD: thank you for the humanity you bring into every home, every visit, and every moment of care.

قول الحقيقة هو مفهوم أخلاقي أساسي بالطب، بيركّز على مصارحة المريض المصاب بمرض مزمن أو عضال بالمعلومات المتعلقة بالتشخيص والتوقعات المستقبلية، للمرضى اللي بيحبّوا يعرفوا حقيقة وضعهم الصحي، يلّي بيسمح باحترام رغبة المريض وإعطائه المعرفة اللي بتعيدله القدرة على اتخاذ قراراته.

هذا المفهوم هو من الأعمدة الأساسية يلي بترتكز عليها الرعاية التلطيفية، خاصة عند نهاية الحياة.

بين الدعم التمريضي والإجتماعي والنفسي، والإرشاد للعائلة … في شي أكبر عم ينعطى كل مرة:
إصغاء، احتواء، وإنسانية بتخلّي البيت يهدى بس يوصلوا.

A major milestone for palliative care in Lebanon.

SANAD warmly congratulates LIA Assurex , Labib Nasr and Walid Hallassou on this remarkable initiative, which marks an important advancement in expanding access to palliative care and bringing greater visibility, recognition, and momentum to this essential field in Lebanon.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health - وزارة الصحة العامة for its support and commitment since 2011 to advancing this field, and a special acknowledgment to Dr. Rakan Nasreddine and Dr. Pierre Anhoury for their extraordinary efforts and dedication in helping move this vision forward.

We at SANAD are proud to have played a role in this effort as part of the National Cancer Plan, and extend our appreciation to Balsam - LCPC for spearheading this initiative. We also thank all partners, advocates, healthcare institutions, and policymakers working to advance serious illness care in Lebanon for their meaningful contributions in bringing this important milestone to life.

16 years after palliative care services first began taking shape locally through sustained advocacy and collaboration, we are moving closer to affirming compassionate, dignified care as a right for every patient who needs it. While the road ahead remains long, this milestone is undeniably one of profound significance.

Together, we continue building a future where quality of life, dignity, and comfort remain at the heart of care.

حملة سند للتوعية بالأمراض المزمنة، بما في ذلك السرطانية وغير السرطانية، وأهمية دور الرعاية التلطيفية في المرحلة المتقدمة من للمرض، لتحسين جودة الحياة في مختلف مراحله.

ضعف عضلة القلب هو نوع من الأمراض المزمنة التي تؤثر على نوعية الحياة, وللرعاية التلطيفية دور مهم في تحسين العوارض الناتجة عن هذا المرض.
