CEDRO - UNDP

CEDRO - UNDP Country Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Demonstration Project for the Recovery of Lebanon.

The CEDRO 4 project is a three-years (2014-2016) European Union (EU) funded project aiming to continue the on-going assistance provided by the UNDP to the Government of Lebanon to develop and implement a national sustainable energy strategy and action plans to mitigate climate change, in line with the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) for Lebanon (2010 – 2014), and in line wi

th the Millennium Development Goal 7 (MDG 7) of achieving environmental sustainability. The CEDRO 4 project builds on the previous 3 phases of CEDRO (2007-2013) where more than 100 renewable energy applications have been demonstrated nation-wide, ranging from photovoltaic (PV) and microwind systems, to large-scale solar hot water (SHW), pico-hydro, and ground source heat pump projects, as well as building on assessments for various renewable energy resources (e.g. wind atlas, bioenergy strategy, hydro from non-river sources…). The CEDRO 1,2,3 projects were funded by a grant from the Government of Spain and/or the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation and Development (AECID) through the Lebanon Recovery Fund (LRF). CEDRO 1,2,3 worked in close partnership with the Ministry of Energy and Water, the Lebanese Center for Energy Conservation (LCEC) and in coordination with the Ministry of Finance and the Council for Development and Reconstruction.
