Yoga for displaced kids, teens, and women in Saida 🫶

For people who have experienced war, displacement, and ongoing uncertainty, yoga is more than movement, it is a tool for healing, resilience, and reconnecting with a sense of safety in the body.

A series of ten-session yoga programs for three groups of displaced children, adolescents, and women started this week at the Angelique Saliba Public School in Saida. The sessions aim to support nervous system regulation and provide moments of inner peace, in collaboration with .lb and in partnership with . 🙏🏻✨🧡

This program is part of a larger project funded by , through which we are promoting yoga and psychosocial well-being among 500 vulnerable individuals across Lebanon.

When we say yoga is for everyone, we truly mean it! 🙌

Today, we kicked off a new chair yoga program with 20 elderly women, most of them in their 90s, at Al Syndianat Care Home.

The sessions are designed to be accessible to every participant and are led by our wonderful .yoga. They focus on gentle movements, simple breathing techniques, aaaand laughter yoga! 😁

This program is part of the “Sohtak b Idak” project, funded by ❤️

A new yoga program for children with deafness, hearing loss, and language disorders has started today in collaboration with at the in ! 🤍✨

This 10-session program aims to promote psychological well-being, inclusion, and empowerment through yoga and mindfulness.

Each class is led by three experienced and specialized teachers: one who demonstrates, one who provides instruction, and one who offers individual support.

Sign language, lip reading, and visual demonstrations are used to make the class accessible to all participants. ❤️

We’re so grateful for our partner NouNaïDa” for making this program happen despite the ongoing war and its associated risks and challenges. 🙏🏻

Our first chair yoga cycle, which included women ranging in age from 33 to 83, has come to an end, and the ladies got a “laughter yoga” surprise in their last session! 😂

The program started in person and then shifted to Zoom when the war in Lebanon erupted, to help keep everyone safe and at ease.

Many of the women we work with deeply long for these moments of togetherness, safety, and connection, both to themselves and to others. So every cycle that comes to an end brings mixed feelings of gratitude and sadness.

Thank you .yoga for helping in making yoga sustainable for everyone!

A 3-month yoga cycle with women in the Bekaa region has come to an end, leaving hearts full of gratitude, bodies more rested, and minds more open and expanded.

The participants’ feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and many expressed their wish to continue the sessions and make them a regular part of their lives.

Thank you .lb for supporting us in making this program possible and for funding the project.

Our weekly kids yoga sessions with are getting even better and more impactful every week! 🩵

The children aren’t only progressing physically and mentally on the mat, but are also applying yogic principles such as awareness, self-reflection, and emotional regulation in their daily lives.

We are currently providing weekly sessions to three groups across two SOS villages, with the financial support of .

For most of the women we work with, yoga is their only “me time”, their only space to connect with who they are beyond societal identities and labels.

A few months ago, we kicked off a collaboration with .lb, targeting some of the most vulnerable women in the Bekaa region.

On top of everything these women were already going through, and the fact that many of them are refugees, they had to endure war once again, thankfully still finding moments of relief in yoga.

In times of war, it is always children who carry the heaviest weight, often in silence.

Two months ago, Koun began offering weekly yoga sessions at the SOS Children’s Villages in Bhersaf and Kfar Hay, reaching 54 children aged 9 to 17, and these sessions continue today! 🫶

Designed to be both playful and grounding, the program provides children with tools to regulate their emotions, connect with their bodies and breath, release stress, and build self-esteem.

Today, amid the heaviness of the world, these spaces have become more essential than ever, especially for children growing up without parental care.
