Over these days, 15 church representatives from different Christian traditions across Syria gathered at Dhour Choueir Evangelical Center to learn, reflect, share experiences, and strengthen their understanding of the church’s mission in its community.

This first phase, “The Roots”, has focused on laying a strong foundation for ministry, nurturing relationships, and deepening our shared vision for serving our communities.

We are grateful to all the participants for their engagement and commitment, and to Tearfund for partnering with Compassion Protestant Society (CPS) in this journey.

As we celebrate the roots taking hold, we look forward to the next steps of this journey and the fruits they will bring to our churches and communities.

Today, we continue our Roots & Fruits – Syria | Damascus training at Dhour Choueir Evangelical Center, as 15 church representatives from across Syria journey together in learning, reflection, and fellowship.

Day 3 focuses on The Four Relationships and the Wheel of Light, exploring how our relationships with God, ourselves, others, and creation shape our lives, communities, and ministry.

Through a series of interactive sessions, participants are continuing to reflect, learn from one another, and discover practical ways to strengthen relationships and deepen their engagement with their communities.

We are grateful for the diversity of church traditions represented and for the opportunity to learn and grow together as one body.

In collaboration with Tearfund, CPS continues to equip churches and Christian leaders for holistic mission and meaningful engagement with their communities.

Today, Compassion Protestant Society (CPS) began the Roots & Fruits - Syria | Damascus training program in Dhour Choeir Evangelical Center, bringing together 15 church representatives from across Syria.

In collaboration with Tearfund, CPS developed the Roots & Fruits program to equip churches and Christian leaders for holistic mission and meaningful engagement with their communities.

Participants come from a rich diversity of Christian traditions, including the Greek Orthodox, Greek Catholic, Syrian Orthodox, Syrian Catholic, Armenian Orthodox, Latin Church (Don Bisco), and Presbyterian Church of Damascus.

Over the coming days, participants will journey together through sessions focused on integrated mission, relationships, vision-setting, biblical studies, Jesus’ ministry, the role of the church as salt and light, and facilitation skills. The program creates a space for learning, reflection, fellowship, and sharing across different church traditions.

At CPS, we believe that bringing churches together can strengthen our common witness and equip leaders to serve their communities with greater vision, collaboration, and hope.

As the new academic year begins, many families whose homes were destroyed in South Lebanon continue to seek safety and shelter in the Kuwaiti Public School in Saida, even as the school year has resumed.

Through our ongoing response, Compassion Protestant Society (CPS) has provided 30 hygiene kits to families still residing in the school, helping meet some of their essential needs during this difficult time.

Alongside this assistance, CPS is also providing Focused Psychosocial Support (FPSS) sessions for 30 women through two groups. Eight planned sessions have been completed so far, creating a safe space for women to connect, process their experiences, and support one another.

We continue to stand alongside displaced families, responding not only to immediate needs but also to the emotional and psychosocial impact of displacement and loss.

We pray for peace, for the safety of communities across South Lebanon, and for the day when every family can return home and rebuild their lives in security and dignity. 🙏🕊️

During his farewell visit to the head offices of the National Evangelical Synod of Syria and Lebanon, Mr. Dick Loendersloot met with General Secretary Rev. Joseph Kassab and Mr. Amir Beitar, Executive Director of Compassion Protestant Society (CPS).

The meeting also included the introduction of Ms. Kirsten Cook, who will succeed Mr. Loendersloot in coordinating Church in Action in the Middle East.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss ways to strengthen ongoing coordination and collaboration in responding to the humanitarian needs facing Lebanon.

CPS remains committed to working alongside churches and partners to support communities and respond to emerging humanitarian needs across Lebanon.

في زيارته الوداعية للسينودس، التقى السيد ديك لوندر سلوت الأمين العام للسينودس الإنجيلي، القس جوزيف قصاب. وقد جرى خلال اللقاء تقديم السيدة كيرستن كوك خلفاً للسيد لوندر سلوت، لتتولى تنسيق منظمة (Church in Action) في منطقة الشرق الأوسط. حضر اللقاء الأخ أمير بيطار - المدير التنفيذي لجمعية تحنن الإنجيلية Compassion Protestant Society ، وتم التداول في سبل استمرار التنسيق على مستوى الحاجات الإنسانية التي يعانيها لبنان.

Over two joyful days, Compassion Protestant Society partnered with Mieh w Mieh Evangelical Presbyterian Church to create a welcoming space where children could play, parents could connect, and displaced children staying in a nearby school shelter could share in moments of joy, friendship, and hope.

This gathering was a beautiful reminder that the Church is called to be present—bringing people from different backgrounds together, building relationships, and reflecting Christ's love through compassion and hospitality.

We are deeply grateful to our generous partners and donors whose faithful support made this initiative possible. Thank you for standing with us as we continue to serve communities with hope and dignity.

With the dedicated efforts of the National Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Saida – Mieh w Mieh, and in partnership with Compassion Protestant Society, we were able to organize a two-day festival for the children of Mieh w Mieh and for displaced children staying at the Mieh w Mieh public school.

Beyond creating a space of joy, safety, and love, this event was also an opportunity to strengthen social cohesion by bringing children and families from the local and displaced communities together in a spirit of welcome, friendship, and shared hope.

We are deeply grateful to every volunteer who served, gave their time, and worked tirelessly to make this event possible. Thank you as well to everyone who donated and prayed for this festival. Your generosity, support, and prayers helped bring smiles, encouragement, and a stronger sense of community to many children.

Every child deserves moments of joy, hope, and the freedom to simply be a child.

Many of the displaced children currently residing at the Melkite Greek Catholic Patriarchal Residence have been forced to leave their homes in South Lebanon, spend time away from friends and family, and face significant disruptions to their daily lives and education.

In collaboration with HOPE worldwide - Lebanon and the Melkite Greek Catholic Patriarchate, Compassion Protestant Society organized a special festival day filled with games, activities, laughter, and fun. For a few hours, the children were able to set aside the challenges around them and enjoy a safe space where smiles and friendship took center stage.

We are grateful to all who helped make this joyful day possible and continue to stand alongside displaced families with hope, compassion, and care.

As Compassion Protestant Society, we were grateful to organize a special celebration day for Eid al-Adha with the 40 displaced families from South Lebanon — around 140 individuals — residing in the Damour shelter.

Through this initiative, families were provided with the ingredients needed to prepare and cook meals for their loved ones. We then shared the meals together — CPS staff and displaced families — in a beautiful atmosphere of unity, dignity, and fellowship during this meaningful occasion. In addition, stationery items were distributed to all the children to bring encouragement and joy to them.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Municipality of Damour, the Ministry of Social Affairs, and all our partners who continue to support the humanitarian response in Lebanon. Your support makes a real difference in the lives of displaced families.
