What does a woman living through a pandemic have in common with a woman living through war? More than you'd think.
Research conducted by ABAAD and the Global Women's Institute in 2019 found that 77% of women surveyed in Lebanon experienced intimate partner violence in their lifetime, and 70% showed signs of severe psychological distress. Lebanon has moved from one crisis to another since then: COVID, economic collapse, displacement, now renewed conflict. But instability wears the same face on the inside. Whatever is driving it, it settles into the mind and stays there.
