SMB is a street medicine program whose goal is to provide basic health care and social support for the homeless population in Beirut. We aim to connect homeless individuals with the medical community through engagement and regular visits in order to provide them with a social network that gives them access to proper health care and basic human rights. Our main objectives are:
1. Provide primary he
alth care for the homeless by organizing street runs, establishing street stations, and teaming up with other NGOs.
2. Follow-up on our homeless population in order to ensure continuity of care and update electronic medical profiles for each homeless individual.
3. Create an environment that encompasses a social support system for the homeless individuals by connecting them with established societies that may provide them with basic human needs.
4. Increase public awareness to overcome stereotypes about the homeless population.
5. Assess the efficiency of our movement as a model to induce changes and bridge gaps in our country’s medical health care system.
6. Establish a platform to introduce medical students to street medicine as a necessary discipline and educational training.
7. Continuously identify homeless individuals by gathering information from residents of Beirut, local NGOs and health clinics, and keep record of the individuals on a local map. SMB is co-founded by volunteering medical doctors Michella Abi Zeid Daou, Samer Abouarbid, Maram Hakoum and Radwan Massoud. SMB هو برنامج طب الشوارع الذي يهدف إلى توفير الرعاية الصحية الأساسية والدعم الاجتماعي للسكان المشردين في بيروت. نحن نهدف إلى ربط الأفراد بلا مأوى مع المجتمع الطبي من خلال المشاركة وزيارات منتظمة من أجل تزويدهم بالشبكة الاجتماعية التي تتيح لهم الحصول على الرعاية الصحية المناسبة وحقوق .الإنسان الأساسية
:أهدافنا الرئيسية هي
1. توفير الرعاية الصحية الأولية للأفراد للمشردين من خلال تنظيم جولات في الشارع، وإنشاء محطات صحية في الاماكن العامة، وانشاء شراكة مع منظمات غير حكومية .أخرى
2. المتابعة الصحية الدائمة للأفراد المشردين من أجل ضمان استمرارية الرعاية وتحديث ملفات الطبية الإلكترونية لكل فرد بلا مأوى.
3. خلق بيئة تشمل نظام دعم اجتماعي للأفراد المشردين من خلال الربط بين الجمعيات التي قد توفر لهم الاحتياجات الإنسانية الأساسية.
4. نشر التوعية الاجتماعية للتغلب على الصور النمطية حول السكان بلا مأوى.
5. تقديم عمل جمعيتنا كنموذجا للحث على التغييرات وعلى سد الثغرات في نظام الرعاية الصحية في لبنان.
6. إنشاء منصة لتعريف طلاب الطب علی طب الشارع
7. تحديد الأفراد المشردين عن طريق جمع المعلومات من سكان بيروت والمنظمات غير الحكومية المحلية والعيادات الصحية، والاحتفاظ بسجل لهم.
