Lebanese Down Syndrome Association الجمعية اللبنانية لتثلث الصبغية 21 LDSA was founded by a group of parents in May 1998 as an independent non-profit with the three-fold mission of advocacy, education, and research.

LDSA serves to build an inclusive environment in education, recreation, employment, social and family life:

● Promoting positive public awareness by stimulating public interest and engaging them in projects, activities, and rallies towards inclusion.

● Promoting the development of inclusive and quality adult education opportunities to foster self-determination through literacy, academic educati

on, technical, and vocational training.

● Encouraging and supporting employment opportunities in inclusive settings through appropriate guidance, job placement, on-the-job training and coaching, and other employment support services.

● Lobbying for legislative procedures to work towards the full inclusion of children with special needs and guarantee their civil and human rights.

Today we stand united to mark International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD). We celebrate the resilience and profound contributions of every individual with Down syndrome and intellectual disability. 💙💛

Intellectual Disability is not just a diagnosis on paper; it requires a relentless unseen effort to navigate a world that is inherently inaccessible.

The greatest battles our individuals fight are the quiet, daily ones that forge immense character and strength:

- The silent frustration of communication barriers and the daily effort required to make oneself understood.

- The emotional toll of social exclusion, judgment, and the fight against ingrained societal stereotypes.

- The profound strength needed to repeatedly tackle tasks that others complete instantly.

This daily, invisible struggle is the true source of their immense power. It is the battle nobody sees that forges the hero.

The LDSA salutes the tenacity and resilience of our community.

Let us make our world worthy of the effort they put in every single day.

كل عام ولبنان بخير بعيد الاستقلال الـ ٨٢!
اليوم، ونحنا عم نحتفل باستقلالنا، لازم نعلن حقيقة تكون بقلب هويتنا اللبنانية:
لبنان لَكِلّ النَّاس!
أطفالنا، وشبابنا، وكبارنا يلي عندن متلازمة داون مش ضيوف ولا غرباء. هِنّي مش "مُنغوليين من مُنغوليا".
هِنّي لُبنانيين من لبنان!
بيغنوا النشيد الوطني، بيحبّوا الأرزة، وبيستاهلوا الاعتراف الكامل بحقوقن.
الاستقلال يلي عم نحتفل فيه ما بيكتمل إلا لما كل مواطن لبناني، ومن ضمنن الأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة، ياخد نفس الحقوق بالزبط، ونفس الاحترام والفرص متل أي حدا تاني.
هيدا بلدُن. وهيدي حقوقُن.
خلونا نشتغل إيد بإيد لنبني لبنان يكون فيه الدمج هو القاعدة الأساسية، مش الاستثناء.

At the Lebanese Down Syndrome Association, we remain committed to empowering individuals with Down syndrome and building a more inclusive society.

Here’s a look at our October Awarness month main activities:

1️⃣ Hosted three expert-led webinars with over 150 parents participating. #
2️⃣ Organized a successful fundraising event supporting our ongoing programs.

3️⃣ Delivered a Diversity & Inclusion Workshop for 15 professionals, including HR managers and NGO representatives.

4️⃣ Established a new partnership with the Sin El Fil Municipality to strengthen community inclusion.

5️⃣ “Right to Work “social media campaign

6️⃣ Conducted three media interviews two on MTV and one on Télé Lumière advocating for rights and awareness.

7️⃣ Held an awareness session at Kawsar School.

8️⃣ Delivered an awareness session at Jesus & Mary School.

Together, we continue to raise awareness, build opportunities, and create lasting change. 💙

🇱🇧 ACTION! UN Disability Inclusion Working Group Launched! 🤝
A truly historic moment in Lebanon! We were proud to join the launch of the UN Disability Inclusion Working Group,a powerful coalition uniting 11 UN Agencies, MOSA, and key NGOs (17 entities total) to drive real change.
This is the turning point: moving from written policy to tangible action and accountability on the ground, strictly aligned with the CRPD.
Our mission is clear: ensure the rights and contributions of persons with disabilities are fully prioritized.
The promise is solid: will be a demonstrable reality in Lebanon.

Under the visionary leadership of President Nabil Kahale, we are taking a significant step forward in building truly inclusive communities. At LDSA, we strongly believe that municipalities are essential drivers of inclusion, empowering every individual.
