In June 2023, we were on the brink of permanently closing our doors.
Fast forward to today: We didn’t just survive,we fought our way to the highest office in the country. Under a relentless new board, we were officially invited to the Presidential Palace by the , turning a story of near-extinction into a historic victory for inclusion.
Here is what went down behind those palace doors:
💼 No Photo Ops, Real Action: We didn’t go for a ceremonial smile. We arrived with a clear, strategic proposal tackling inclusive employment, directly asking the First Lady for her vital support in securing real work opportunities for our adults. 📋
🎙️ Self-Advocates Held the Mic: True inclusion means stepping back. Our self-advocates took the stage, speaking with fierce dignity about what it truly takes to belong in a world that builds walls around them.
💡 Value, Not Charity: and Ali shared their employment success stories, proving to the business community that hiring a person with Down syndrome isn’t a favor:it’s a strategic choice that brings real talent and business impact.
From the brink of being erased to pulling up a seat at the nation’s decision-making table, our journey is proof of what relentless resilience can do.
We are deeply grateful to the First Lady for her commitment, and to our community for believing in this new chapter. We are rewriting the blueprint for inclusion in Lebanon. And we are just getting started💪
