On February 6th, 2026, we were pleased to welcome students from Collège Protestant Français to the laboratories of the American University of Beirut, where they explored how science and innovation can help tackle marine pollution. During their visit, students learned about the research led by the Maroun Semaan Faculty of Engineering and Architecture in support of the Cedars for Care project “Marine Litter, namely Microplastics, in Construction.” The project is funded by the Global Environment Facility and implemented by United Nations Development Programme through the Small Grants Programme (SGP), with additional research capacity supported by the Environment and Sustainable Development Unit (ESDU) through the provision of laboratory equipment.
