Dar El Awlad: Kids Alive Lebanon

Dar El Awlad: Kids Alive Lebanon Dar El Awlad has its origins in the vision of Mr. C.F. Though the school was officially opened during 1999 classes had already began as early as 1997.

“With Kids Alive, you are following Jesus to…

Rescue vulnerable children from hard places

Redeem lost years and offer eternal futures

Restore young lives to wholeness and freedom” Agerstrand, who was deeply touched by the needs of the destitute children he saw living in the slums of Beirut. His response was to open a small children's home in an apartment in Beirut, providing food, education, an

d Bible teaching to a handful of children. Two years later the ministry became part of Kids Alive International, known at that time as the 'Home of Onesiphorus'. During 1956 the home (called the Near East Boys Home, 'Dar El Awlad') move from Beirut to the small village of Mansourieh, in the hills overlooking the city. Many years later the formal educational role of Dar El Awlad was expanded upon when a primary school was open on campus. While Dar El Awlad's younger residents attend this small, intimate school the doors have been opened up to allow immigrant children and those who might otherwise be overlooked for an education to attend. As of 2012 we've enrolled 80 children into this educational program, maxing out our capacity for the time being! The Bell House opened its doors during 2008 as a transitional living program to aid our older residents as they move from adolescence to adulthood. Dar El Awlad, in partnership with two other NGO's, recently started the New Horizons Center (near Saida) to serve the bedouin and gypsy populations living along the coastal south of Lebanon. During Autumn 2014 we will be opening our Oasis program, reaching out to the children of Syrian refugees. The Oasis day program will primarily focus on providing an educational experience for up to 60 children who are displaced as a result of war and who cannot enter into a traditional school at this time.

Today, we brought our eldest students together to discuss the transition from adolescence to adulthood. Through open conversations and shared experiences, we aimed to help them understand the emotional, social, and physical changes that come with growing up.
Praying that they navigate this important phase of life smoothly and safely.

With open hearts, we welcomed displaced families who have sought shelter in our neighborhood for a special Mother’s Day gathering. It was a privilege to meet them, listen to their stories of pain and resilience, and extend love and care amid the difficult realities they are facing.
We pray that the Lord surrounds them with His comfort, peace, and strength in these challenging times.

The Women’s Ministry celebrated Mother’s Day, reflecting on God’s beautiful promise: “As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you.” — Isaiah 66:13.
The ladies were reminded that just as a mother holds, reassures, and gently cares for her child in moments of fear or pain, so God’s presence surrounds us with peace, tenderness, and unwavering love.
It was a wonderful time of fellowship during the hard days our region is living in.

On Mother’s Day, we celebrated our teachers and staff for the love, care, and empathy they show every day. Just like mothers, they nurture, guide, and support our students with open hearts.
We are truly grateful for the difference they make in every child’s life🌸

"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble." -Psalm 46:1
In these difficult times, we hold on to His promises. In the middle of war, our school remains a place of hope, safety, and learning. Our children deserve stability, joy, and a future—even in the hardest times.
Thank you for all your support and prayers.
