From Philadelphia to the Middle East, united by one mission.📖💙

A meaningful day of connection and collaboration as Dr. Mike Bassous, General Secretary / CEO of Bible Society Lebanon, met with longtime friend and former colleague Robert Briggs of Alliance Practice, the leadership team of CityLife Church, and Dr. Jennifer Holloran, President & CEO of the American Bible Society.

The conversations centered on responding to Scripture needs across the Middle East, strengthening trauma healing initiatives, and exploring opportunities for mutual encouragement and support.

Grateful for friendships and partnerships that cross borders, strengthen our mission, and remind us that we can accomplish more when we work together.

A day in Montreal meeting, networking, and coordinating Scripture needs for the Diaspora/Extension church. Bible Society’s General Secretary / CEO, Dr. Mike Bassous, visited the Greek Catholic (Melkite) Archbishop of Canada, Lebanese Maronite Order St Anthony the Great, Syriac Catholic Archbishop of Canada, and the Maronite Archbishop of Canada, HE Paul-Marwan Tabet, who hosted key stakeholders. From Lebanon to Canada, our mission continues to bring people closer to God’s Word. 🇱🇧🇨🇦📖

At the invitation of His Excellency Bishop Paul-Marwan Tabet, Dr. Mike Bassous, General Secretary / CEO of Bible Society Lebanon, delivered a lecture at Saint Maron Cathedral in Montreal, reflecting on the history of the Bible mission and the importance of moving beyond reading Scripture to truly understanding it.

The gathering brought together Church leaders, clergy, catechists, and members of the faithful, opening meaningful conversations about biblical literacy, the challenges facing younger generations, and new ways to make God’s Word more accessible.

A significant outcome was the foundation for future collaboration with the Eastern Catholic dioceses in Canada, including plans to translate selected Bible Society publications into French and English to better engage children and youth in the diaspora.

Our sincere gratitude to Bishop Paul-Marwan Tabet, Bishop Paul-Antoine Nassif, and all those who contributed to this meaningful gathering.

Because sharing God’s Word is only the beginning. Helping people understand and live it is the mission.💙

The sacred text is not only read. It is studied, explored, and brought into dialogue.

The 6th Intercultural Mediation and Reconciliation Conference addressing the Sacred Texts’ controversies in Christianity and Islam under the title “The Role of Linguistics and Literary Analysis in Reading the Sacred Text” brought together Christian and Muslim scholars from Lebanon, Germany, France, and Iraq to explore how linguistics and literary analysis can deepen our understanding of biblical and Qur’anic texts.
Organized in partnership between the Faculty of Religious Sciences at Saint Joseph University and Bible Society Lebanon, the conference welcomed around 50 participants for a meaningful exchange of scholarship, perspectives, and research.

Because when knowledge is shared, understanding grows and dialogue finds new paths. 🕊️

Preparing together for the Sunday of the Word of God and Week of the Bible 2027. 📖

On Tuesday, October 6, representatives from the Assembly of Catholic Patriarchs and Bishops in Lebanon (APECL), Biblical Federation in Lebanon, Bible Society, and APECL Jeunes gathered at the Maronite Patriarchal Complex in Zouk Mosbeh to begin preparations for this special celebration, starting Sunday, January 24, 2027.

A shared mission, bringing the Word of God closer to people and communities across Lebanon. 🤍

Bible Society Lebanon proudly congratulates the Chair of its Board of Directors, Archbishop Georges Bacouni, on being voted as a co-opted member of the United Bible Societies Fellowship Council, representing a global fellowship of more than 150 Bible Societies. 🌍📖

This appointment reflects a continued commitment to serving the Bible mission not only in Lebanon, but as part of a worldwide fellowship united around God’s Word.

We wish His Eminence every blessing and success in this new responsibility and look forward to the contribution of his leadership and experience on the global level. 🙏

Every sky, every tree, every sea, and every living thing reminds us of the beauty and greatness of the Creator. And with that gift comes a responsibility: to protect, respect, and care for what He has entrusted to us.

September was a month of connection, collaboration, and taking the Bible mission beyond borders at Bible Society Lebanon ✨

Our General Secretary and CEO, Dr. Mike Bassous, participated in the 22nd International Forum for Biblical Sciences in São Paulo, while meetings with church leaders strengthened collaboration around Scripture needs for diaspora communities and future Portuguese and Spanish editions of “The Holy Bible and Lebanon” 🌍

In Paris, we celebrated our Diamond Jubilee and 75 years of Bible mission with members of the Lebanese diaspora, in collaboration with Alliance biblique française. A meaningful moment to reflect on our journey and look ahead to the future of our mission 🇱🇧🇫🇷

Back in Lebanon, more than 13 Christian faith based INGOs gathered for a meeting hosted by MEDAIR, creating space to strengthen partnerships, exchange experiences, and explore new ways to serve communities together 🤝

We also welcomed St. Dimitrios Orthodox Parish to discover how the Bible came to us through an engaging Bible World experience, bringing Scripture and its journey closer to our visitors 📖🤍

And for our youngest readers, we highlighted two beautiful French Bibles designed to introduce children to God’s Word from their earliest years 🎀

September reminded us that whether across countries, communities, or generations, God’s Word continues to bring people together.
