Project background
The “Local development programme along the
Litani River Basin - LRB” is concluded by the
Lebanese Government and the EC Delegation in
Lebanon with the aim of fostering the partnership
between the private and public sectors and provide
basic needs. The LRB Programme, is implemented by the
Economic and Social Fund for Development -
ESFD, with a value of EUR 20 million funded by
th
e European Union. In this context, the ESFD is currently implementing
a Certified and Accelerated Vocational Training for
the Youth in the Litani River Basin, aiming at
creating job opportunities and improving skills and
technical development. Objectives of the
project
The purpose of this Project is to contribute to
improving employability among the youth in the
Litani River Basin, in particular in the 9 Unions of
Municipalities of Baalbeck, West Baalbeck, Zahle,
East Zahle, Central Bekaa, Plain, Lake, Tyre and
Chqif by strengthening occupational and soft skills
and by ensuring internships. Phases of the project
The project is divided into two main phases:
Phase 1:
Provision of training on occupational and soft skills
for 180 trainees. Phase 2:
Ensure a 100 hours internship for each trainee in
enterprises, factories, restaurants, hotels…
The training program will be implemented in training
centers in the region of the 9 unions of municipalities
by using private centers or public TVET
schools/institutes with the support of the General
Directorate of TVET at the Ministry of Education and
