يتعرَّض لبنان لأزمة واليونسكو تستجيب...

بدعم 1,6 مليون طالب، ووضع 73 موقعاً ثقافياً تحت الحماية المعززة، والوصول إلى 1,3 مليون شخص عبر حملات مكافحة المعلومات الخاطئة، وتدريب المعلمين وتمكين الصحفيين والوقوف إلى جانب المجتمعات المحلية عندما تقتضي الحاجة.

لأنَّ 500,000 طفل أرغموا على البقاء خارج المدرسة، وتضررت مواقع تراثية قديمة، من بينها مدينة صور المدرجة في قائمة التراث العالمي لليونسكو. وقُتل صحفيون وانتشرت المعلومات الخاطئة مع اختفاء المعلومات الموثوق بها.

الاحتياجات هائلة واليونسكو مستعدة لتوسيع نطاق استجابتها أكثر فأكثر، دعماً لجهود التعافي وبناء القدرة على الصمود .

⁨ أطلقت وزارة الإعلام اللبنانية ومنظمة اليونسكو، بتمويل من اليونيفيل، الحملة الوطنية “كون جزء من الحقيقة مش من التضليل”، في إطار جهود مشتركة لتعزيز التربية الإعلامية ومكافحة انتشار الأخبار المضللة.

وتعكس الحملة سلسلة من الفيديوهات التوعوية الهادفة إلى تمكين الجمهور، ولا سيما الشباب، من مهارات التحقق من المعلومات وتعزيز النشر المسؤول، بما يسهم في ترسيخ بيئة إعلامية أكثر وعيًا ومصداقية.✅

The Lebanese Ministry of Information and , with funding from UNIFIL, have launched the national campaign “Be Part of the Truth, Not ,” as part of joint efforts to promote media and information literacy and combat the spread of false information.

The campaign features a series of awareness-raising videos aimed at empowering the public, particularly young people, with skills to verify information and promote responsible sharing, contributing to a more informed and trustworthy media environment.✅⁩

Lebanon is in crisis and UNESCO is responding.

Supporting 1.6 million students. Placing 73 cultural sites under enhanced protection. Reaching 1.3 million people through campaigns to combat misinformation. Training teachers, empowering journalists, and standing with communities when it matters most.

Because 500,000 children have been forced from classrooms. Ancient heritage sites — including Tyre, a UNESCO site — have been damaged. Journalists have been killed. Misinformation is spreading as reliable information disappears.

The needs are immense. UNESCO stands ready to scale up further, supporting recovery and resilience

In Syria, safeguarding cultural heritage is essential to supporting long-term recovery

At The National Museum Of Damascus - كنوز متحف دمشق الوطني, UNESCO is working to preserve evacuated objects from the Museums of Aleppo and Palmyra, restore and digitize documentary heritage, and strengthen the skills of Syrian heritage experts and museum professionals with the support of Germany.

These actions are part of UNESCO’s broader Action Plan for Syria, which also supports UNESCO’s emergency response alongside other partners, including Italy, Japan and ALIPH Foundation.

Implemented hand in hand with Syrian institutions, these efforts strengthen resilience and support the country’s recovery through culture, education, and knowledge-sharing.

In the context of the recent aggravation of hostilities in Lebanon, UNESCO is deeply alarmed by the verified damages affecting Chama’ Citadel as well as the reported strikes in the immediate vicinity of Beaufort Castle, both properties provisionally inscribed on the List of enhanced protection of the 1954 Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict.

UNESCO is also concerned about the state of conservation of Tyre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a site under enhanced protection, in the light of recent alarming developments that may expose the site to further damage and potential looting.

UNESCO strongly condemns unlawful attacks against cultural property. Sites under “enhanced protection” benefit from the highest level of legal protection against attack and use for military purposes. Damage to such institutions deprives communities of access to culture and shared spaces that are essential for recovery and social cohesion.

UNESCO and its Regional Office in Beirut will continue to work with the Lebanese authorities in assessing damage to cultural institutions and in reinforcing urgent safeguarding measures within its mandate.
