Lebanese Red Cross
At D4C, we believe design is a powerful tool for strengthening humanitarian action. In Karantina, Beirut, this project reimagines a severely deteriorated building into a civic facility for the Lebanese Red Cross Disaster Risk Reduction and Beirut Disaster Management teams.
Through spatial reorganization, clear circulation, and climate-responsive design strategies, the project creates a functional environment that supports training, coordination, and daily operations. Layered privacy, shaded façades, deep-set windows, and expressive red frames enhance comfort, identity, and passive cooling within a dense urban context.
More than adaptive reuse, this initiative transforms neglect into resilience, creating a human-centered framework that enables collaboration, preparedness, and effective response when communities need it most.
