For years, nafda’s Aal Seha has grown through the belief and support of partners who share our commitment to engaged citizenship.

Among those who have supported Aal Seha since its inception is The Tree House Foundation, whose continued support has contributed to the tool’s journey and its reach among students and educators.

Through the voices of teachers who have experienced Aal Seha firsthand, we see what this support helps make possible: students engaging with their communities, working together, reflecting on shared values, and turning citizenship into practice.

We are grateful to The Tree House Foundation and to all the partners who have believed in Aal Seha over the years and helped support its journey from the beginning. 🤝

شو بيصير لما يجتمعو مدراء المدارس ليتخيّلوا سوا كيف بدهن يعملو شبكة بتضم مدارسهم؟

خلال اليوم المجتمعي، اجتمع مدراء ومديرات من مدارس نفضة من مختلف المناطق اللبنانية ليتأملوا بالرحلة اللي صارو قاطعينها، ويشاركوا شو بيحتاجوا من الشبكة اللي بنوها، ويتخيّلوا شو فيهن يبنوا سوا.

وكان الحديث أكبر من البرامج و الأنشطة. كان عن بناء شبكة تتعلّم فيها المدارس من بعضها، وتتشارك خبراتها، وتخلق فرصًا لمجتمعاتها، ويكون إلها صوت في رسم الخطوات الجاية.

من مسارات أوضح، إلى التعلّم بين الزملاء وتعزيز التعاون بين المدارس، حوّلنا أفكار اليوم إلى خطوات عملية للمستقبل.

لأن نفضة مش بس شبكة مدارس. هي حركة بيصنعها الأشخاص اللي بيشكلوا جزء منها.
وهيدي بس البداية. 🌱

What happens when schools come together to imagine what they want their network to become?

At our Community Day, nafda principals from across Lebanon came together to reflect on the journey so far, share what they need from the network, and think about what they can contribute in return.

The conversation was about more than programs. It was about building a network where schools learn from one another, share their experience, create opportunities for their communities, and have a voice in shaping what comes next.
From clearer pathways and peer learning to stronger collaboration between schools, the day turned reflection into ideas for action.
Because nafda is not just a network of schools. It is a movement shaped by the people who are part of it.

And this is only the beginning. 🌱

At Sendyaneh Zeidan Public High School in Akkar, students led one of the many community projects taking place across nafda schools, creating moments of safety, joy, and connection for children affected by displacement.

Through storytelling, drawing, games, sports, sharing food, and conversation, they helped the children feel seen, welcomed, and supported.

The students were involved at every stage, from planning the activities and dividing responsibilities to adapting them based on the children’s needs. Through the experience, they strengthened their empathy, teamwork, patience, and sense of civic responsibility, and learned that leadership begins with listening, care, and solidarity. 🤍

هذه المبادرة في ثانوية سنديانة زيدان الرسمية في عكار هي واحدة من المشاريع المجتمعية العديدة التي يقودها الطلاب في مدارس نفضة، وقد ساهمت في خلق لحظات من الأمان والفرح والتواصل للأطفال المتأثرين بالنزوح.

من خلال القصص والرسم والألعاب والرياضة وتناول الطعام والحوار، ساعد الطلاب الأطفال على الشعور بأنهم مرئيون، ومرحب بهم، ومحاطون بالدعم.

قاد الطلاب المبادرة في مختلف مراحلها، من التخطيط للأنشطة وتوزيع المسؤوليات إلى تكييفها بحسب احتياجات الأطفال. ومن خلال هذه التجربة، عززوا التعاطف والعمل الجماعي والصبر والشعور بالمسؤولية المدنية، وتعلموا أن القيادة تبدأ بالاستماع والرعاية والتضامن. 🤍

What happens when schools become more connected to the communities around them?
Sister Marie Therese, Principal of École Saint Maron – Tripoli, reflects on her journey with nafda: from opening up to the local community, to connecting with principals from across Lebanon, to growing through structured leadership training.
Through nafda’s leadership trainings, including community visioning, the values compass, peer learning and exchange, principals are supported to plan with purpose, lead with confidence, and become part of a wider network working toward change.

Over the past few months, schools across Lebanon have carried responsibilities far beyond their mandate. They became shelters for displaced families, spaces of support for students navigating trauma and uncertainty, and places that continued bringing communities together despite disruption and loss.

Through its emergency response across 39 schools, nafda worked to strengthen trust, belonging, and social cohesion at a time when fear and division could easily take hold. The programme engaged over 2,100 students, supported around 250 educators, and reached more than 4,000 community beneficiaries through dialogue, psychosocial support, community service, and civic engagement initiatives.

This video captures some of the ways students, educators, and schools turned solidarity into action.

خلال الأشهر الماضية، حملت المدارس في لبنان مسؤوليات أكبر بكثير من دورها المعتاد. تحوّلت إلى مساحات لاستقبال العائلات النازحة، ودعم الطلاب الذين يعيشون الخوف والضغط النفسي وعدم الاستقرار، واستمرت — قدر الإمكان — في الحفاظ على دورها كمساحات تجمع الناس رغم كل الانقطاع والخسارة.

من خلال خطط الطوارئ التي نفّذتها نفضة في 39 مدرسة، عملت نفضة على تعزيز الثقة، والانتماء، والتماسك الاجتماعي في وقت كان فيه الخوف والانقسام يهددان المجتمعات بشكل كبير. وقد شملت الأنشطة أكثر من 2100 طالب/ة، ودعمت حوالي 250 معلّم/ة، ووصلت إلى أكثر من 4000 مستفيد/ة من المجتمع من خلال أنشطة الحوار، والدعم النفسي والاجتماعي، والخدمة المجتمعية، والمبادرات المرتبطة بالمواطنة والمشاركة المجتمعية.

At École Saint-Maron, Tripoli, young students showed us what active citizenship can look like in action. ❤️

Through Aal Seha Junior, students learned what it means to be active citizens: to take responsibility, care for one another, work together, and stand in solidarity with others.

And they carried these values beyond the game. 🤝

Inspired by what they learned through Aal Seha, the students chose to support orphaned children by organizing a small bazaar, spending the day together through games and sports, and donating the money they raised to help support them.

What began as a values-based game became concrete, student-led action rooted in solidarity.

This is one of many community service projects inspired by Aal Seha across nafda schools. 🌱

في مدرسة مار مارون، طرابلس، شفنا مع التلاميذ الصغار كيف في المواطنة الفاعلة تتحوّل لفعل حقيقي. ❤️

من خلال عالساحة جونيور، تعلّم التلاميذ شو يعني يكونوا مواطنين فاعلين: يتحمّلوا المسؤولية، يهتمّوا ببعض، يشتغلوا سوا، ويوقفوا بتضامن مع غيرهم.

وحملوا هالقيم لبرا اللعبة. 🤝

بعد ما لعبوا عالساحة، أخد التلاميذ القيم اللي تعلّموها وطبّقوها بمشروع من اختيارهم: دعم أطفال يتامى من خلال تنظيم بازار صغير، وقضوا النهار سوا باللعب والرياضة، والتبرّع بالمبلغ اللي جمعوه للمساهمة بدعمهم.

هيك، لعبة مبنية على القيم تحوّلت لفعل تضامني حقيقي بقيادة التلاميذ.

وهيدا واحد من عدّة مشاريع خدمة مجتمعية مستوحاة من عالساحة ضمن مدارس نفضة. 🌱

At École Saint-Vincent Besançon, students turned a community need into a concrete act of support.

In this video, the school’s social worker reflects on how one student-led project helped support displaced families in a nearby school hosting them, strengthen connection across the wider community, and turn the values of citizenship into meaningful action.

في هذا الفيديو، نسمع من إحدى الطالبات المتطوعات التي شاركت في أنشطة بناء الثقة بين المجتمع المحلي والعائلات النازحة في مدرسة المربي البر حنا ايوب الرسمية.

من خلال كلماتها، نرى أثر هذه اللقاءات: الإصغاء، التقارب، والشعور بأننا معنيون ببعضنا البعض.

في وقت تتأثر فيه المجتمعات بالحرب، يصبح بناء الثقة بين الناس جزءًا أساسيًا من إعادة ترميم ما تتركه الأزمات بيننا.

هذه اللقاءات مهمّة، لأنها تذكّرنا أن المواطنة تبدأ عندما نخلق مساحات تجمع الناس، وتفتح المجال للفهم، الدعم، والمسؤولية المشتركة. ❤️

In this video, we hear from a student volunteer who took part in trust-building activities between the local community and displaced families at Albert Ayoub Public School.

Through her words, we see the impact of encounters like these: listening, connection, and the feeling that we are responsible for one another.

At a time when communities are affected by war, building trust between people becomes an essential part of rebuilding what crises leave between us.

These encounters matter because they remind us that citizenship begins when we create spaces that bring people together and open room for understanding, support, and shared responsibility. ❤️
