2nd Annual Back to School Backpack Drive;

We’re on a mission to make sure every student in Lebanon has the tools they need to succeed. Unfortunately, not all students have access to basic school supplies, and that’s where we can all step in!

📅 How You Can Help:

Donate a Backpack: If you have a gently used Backbag, lunch box, or even a pencil case, you can donate it now.

Partner with Us: Schools can collaborate by setting up a drop-off point or arranging a collection from your location.

Let’s come together and make sure every student starts the year ready to learn. Drop us a message to get involved

Environmental education is pivotal in nurturing a generation that values and actively contributes to sustainability. We take pride in empowering students to engage deeply with environmental issues through various educational initiatives. By integrating hands-on activities, workshops, and curriculum enhancements, we aim to instill a profound understanding of ecological systems, waste reduction, recycling practices, and energy conservation. Through partnerships with schools and communities, we provide students with practical tools and knowledge, fostering their commitment to environmental stewardship. Ultimately, our efforts not only equip young individuals with essential skills but also inspire them to become proactive agents of change in building a greener, more sustainable future.

Supporting culture and the arts plays a crucial role in enriching physical, intellectual, and psychological capacities. Engaging with cultural activities such as art exhibitions, theater performances, and music concerts stimulates cognitive abilities and creativity. These experiences encourage critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and emotional intelligence, fostering a deeper understanding of diverse perspectives and histories. Furthermore, participation in cultural and artistic endeavors promotes social cohesion and community identity, enhancing overall well-being and mental health. By investing in cultural initiatives and creative expressions, societies not only preserve their heritage but also empower individuals to thrive in a dynamic and interconnected world.

In response to the economic crisis, approximately 55,000 students transitioned from private to public schools in Lebanon during the 2020-2021 academic year, significantly intensifying pressure on public educational facilities, according to a World Bank report (2021).

Accurate statistics on dropout rates in Lebanon remain elusive. Save the Children reported a 50% dropout rate in a video released in September 2022, encompassing Lebanese, Syrian, and Palestinian students. This statistic underscores a noticeable surge in dropouts amidst years marred by crisis. UNICEF's 2022 report revealed that "3 out of every 10 young men and women in Lebanon have discontinued their education," with school enrollment decreasing to 43% in 2022. No specific statistics were provided for the 2022-2023 school year. Overall, this suggests a broad adaptation to the economic crisis, potentially indicating increased enrollment in public schools for 2023-2024, alongside sustained dollarization of Lebanon's economy and relative stability in the lira exchange rate.

Despite severe economic challenges, only 31.34% of Lebanese students are enrolled in public schools, while 52.93% attend private institutions. This disparity highlights Lebanese families' persistent preference for private education despite its higher costs.

These 336,301 students are distributed across educational levels as follows:

Under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture, the association SAVE THE BOOK organized the "أبناء الضاد" Arabic competition for secondary school students in Lebanon. The event was attended by Attorney Ziad Beidoun, representing Minister of Culture Mohammad Wissam Al-Murtada, alongside a large gathering from academic, educational, social, cultural, media, economic, and legal circles, as well as parents.

The competition included twenty questions from the Arabic language curriculum for secondary education. Students competed in answering these questions in a closed hall under the supervision of monitoring teachers. Specialized committees corrected the competitions, and nine students out of 298 achieved a score of 18/20. They proceeded to direct final qualifications on stage, with the following results:

First Place: Hadi Kassemm - Mustafa High School, Haret Hreik (won $1,000 sponsored by Global Education).
Second Place: Farah Al-Maaz and Fareeda Ahmed - Iman High School, Aaramon (each won $500 sponsored by TAD NGO and ADHD Mentors & Supporters).
Third Place: Jana Sabra and Zahraa Blaybel - Siraj Yanouh High School, Sour, and Randa Hamadouni - Al-Risalah High School, Aaramon (each won $250 sponsored by Mother Goose Nursery, R***e, and Ta Mabsouta).

Those who received commendation awards of $100 each sponsored by Khalil Services are: Abeer Zain al-Din - Mustafa High School, Qasr Naba, Mohammed Azaddin - Mustafa High School, Haret Hreik, and Zeinab Sbeiti - Al-Batoul High School.
