Chair of Fondation Diane for Education in Eco-Citizenship and Sustainable Development
Education being a fundamental lever in the change of conceptions, attitudes and behaviors, The Chair of Fondation Diane for Education in Eco-citizenship and Sustainable Development (CEEDD), at the Université Saint-Joseph, aims to improve knowledge of socio-ecological issues and to rethink development models to build harmony between citizens and nature. By putting the human issue at the heart of development processes and by re-investing the values, representations, activities, practices and behaviours of each with regard to sustainable and equitable development, this chair aims to encourage all Lebanese citizens to integrate ecocitizenship and sustainable development issues into their decisions, values and attitudes, and to embody, through their practices, the best world in which they would like to live, and future generations. Dedicated to reconciling socio-economic development needs with environmental conservation priorities and promoting the transition of societies to sustainable development models, The Diane Foundation Chair is intended to be a scientific and interdisciplinary platform between environmental sciences, economics and social sciences. Its mission is to:
1. To set up graduate training courses on ecocitizenship and sustainable development issues, and in-service or tailor-made training for schools, universities and private companies, public administrations and Ngos around these themes.
2. Stimulate research by: Managing and financing projects focusing on ecocitizenship and sustainable development themes, the results of which will be valued by scientific papers and publications. Awarding of annual research grants for students enrolled in Master’s and Phd programs.
3. Organize scientific events addressing ecocitizenship and sustainable development themes.
