For Teach For Lebanon Fellows, the Fellowship is about more than the work they do in the classroom. It is also about building the skills, confidence, and leadership they need to carry forward into their next chapter.
As part of our 24-month collaboration with Chalhoub Group , Cohort 16 Fellows recently took part in a CV Writing & LinkedIn Optimization session led by Chalhoub Group.

From crafting clear, ATS-friendly CVs to highlighting their achievements and optimizing their LinkedIn profiles, Fellows gained practical tools to approach future career opportunities with greater confidence.

This session marks the beginning of a series of professional development and mentorship opportunities that will support Fellows throughout the partnership.

We look forward to this partnership and to expanding opportunities for Fellows’ professional growth.

The Summer Institute (SI) is underway.

Across five weeks, Teach For Lebanon’s Cohort 18 Fellows-to-be are building the knowledge and skills they need to step into classrooms, support students, and grow as educators and leaders.

Through virtual sessions, discussions, and collaborative work, they are exploring the foundations of effective teaching, from creating safe and supportive learning environments to understanding and responding to students’ needs.

The SI also creates space to reflect, exchange ideas, and connect these foundations to the realities of the classroom.

At Teach For Lebanon, we see this every day through our youth — who believe in every child’s right to quality education and bring their ideas and energy into classrooms and communities across Lebanon.

Every journey starts with getting to know the people you are about to walk it with.

Before stepping into classrooms and beginning their Summer Institute, our Cohort 18 Fellows-to-be spent two days getting to know Teach For Lebanon from the inside.

They met the teams behind the work, visited different departments, took part in activities, asked questions, and started putting faces to the people they will be working with throughout their Fellowship journey.

Along the way, they got a glimpse of how our teams come together, how their roles connect to the bigger picture, and the support that will be there for them as they prepare to enter the classroom.

We look forward to accompanying them throughout the Summer Institute and celebrating the moment they officially become Teach For Lebanon Fellows.

"What does Education in Emergencies mean to you?"

For our Fellows, the answers go far beyond keeping lessons going.

Through Teach For All 's Leadership for Learning Through Displacement Project, implemented by Teach For Lebanon, Fellows have been strengthening the knowledge, skills, and mindset needed to support children when learning is disrupted. As part of a series of trainings under this project, fellows participated in a Universal Design for Learning (UDL) training, equipping them with practical strategies to design inclusive, flexible learning environments that meet the diverse needs of every learner.

Their Education in Emergencies journey has equipped them to create classrooms where children feel safe, supported, and able to keep learning, even when life around them feels uncertain. Every session has strengthened their capacity to adapt, lead with empathy, and ensure that every child has access to meaningful learning.

These reflections capture what Education in Emergencies means to them - and why investing in teachers' leadership is essential to protecting every child's right to learn.

Because every child deserves the chance to keep learning, no matter the circumstances.

What happens when students are given a space to speak freely?

Jana placed an anonymous mailbox in her classroom: no names, no judgment, no pressure. Slowly, students began sharing what they had been carrying—fears, exhaustion, loneliness, and emotions they had never said out loud.

As they opened up, Jana was reminded that students are humans first, often carrying far more than we can see.
Wanting to build on that trust, she introduced “For Anyone Who Needs It,” inviting students to write messages of encouragement to their classmates.

One student wrote:
“رفيقتي، أنا حاسّة فيكي… مش كل يوم رح يكون بشع، يعني يمكن بكرا يكون حلو. إن شاء الله تكون أيامك حلوة كتير.”

What followed was a quiet shift. Students became more supportive of one another and more aware that everyone may be carrying something unseen.

This is what Teach For Lebanon Fellows strive to do: create spaces where students feel seen, heard, and supported—because when an educator truly sees a student, it can change how they learn and how they see themselves.

A child's social and emotional growth doesn't begin and end at school. It continues at home, in everyday conversations, relationships, and moments of guidance.

At Hasbaya Public School for Girls, our Fellows Nancy Sassouh and Nael Sassouh invited parents into that journey through a Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) session as part of the Fostering Resilience and Social and Emotional Growth project in partnership with Porticus Foundation.

Together, they explored the five core SEL competencies using real situations students experience at school. These conversations created space for parents to reflect on how children navigate emotions, relationships, and challenges, and how schools and families can work together to support them.

Reflecting on the experience, Nancy and Nael shared:
"The session was smooth and interactive. We built a positive bond with the parents, shared ideas, and had meaningful discussions. It was a valuable experience that highlighted the importance of working together to support children's social and emotional development."

Supporting children's wellbeing is a shared responsibility. When schools and families come together, children are better equipped to build the social and emotional skills they need to learn, grow, and navigate everyday life.

Summer Leadership Lab offered a space for Fellows to learn from one another through shared experience and reflection.

Across 10 peer-led sessions, 15 Fellows from Cohort 17 designed and facilitated workshops inspired by the lessons, challenges, and insights they gained during their first year of the Fellowship.

The Lab also brought together incoming Cohort 18 Fellows, creating opportunities to ask questions, exchange perspectives, and build connections before beginning their own Fellowship journey.

At Teach For Lebanon, we see leadership as a continuous practice of learning, reflecting, and supporting others. Thank you to our Cohort 17 Fellows for sharing their experiences and helping shape a meaningful start for the next cohort.
