What will it take for our region to thrive?

This question brought together 600+ changemakers in Amman for Alfanar Venture Philanthropy’s first Arab Impact Summit, attended by our team: Executive Director Janine Weber El Meouchy and Head of Development & Engagement Khadije Saleh.

Across discussions on philanthropy, education, and regional development, one message stood out: meaningful impact starts with local priorities, builds on existing systems of care, and strengthens partnerships rooted in trust and shared responsibility.

For Lebanon and the wider region, where crisis remains an ongoing reality, these conversations highlighted the importance of locally led solutions, long-term investment, and approaches to impact shaped by the communities they serve.

Thank you to Alfanar Venture Philanthropy, Anara Capital, and the Arab Foundations Forum for bringing these conversations together, and congratulations to AFF on 20 years of work.

From learning together to serving their communities, the Summer Institute gave our Fellows-to-be new experiences, questions, and connections to carry forward.

To wrap up the SI experience, our Fellows-to-be came together at LAU for a day of reflection, conversation, and celebration. TFL Executive Director Janine Weber-el Meouchy opened the day with a welcome note before the group looked back on their experiences, challenges, and questions from the past weeks.

Cohort 17 Fellows, joined the conversation to share advice and lessons from their own experience, giving the Fellows-to-be space to ask questions, discuss challenges, and think about their next steps.

Ghaith Bahmad, a Teach For Lebanon student and member of Teach For All’s 2026 Student Leader Advisory Council, also joined the day to reflect on his journey with Teach For All. As part of a global group bringing student perspectives and ideas into conversations across the network, Ghaith spoke about finding his voice, what he has learned, and his gratitude to the teachers and Education Team members who supported him along the way.

The day came to a close with celebrating the connections built throughout the Summer Institute — before looking ahead to what comes next.

Teaching is more than delivering a lesson. It is about creating spaces where students can ask questions, try, learn, and grow. Sometimes, it starts with believing in what a student can do.

Every day, teachers create these opportunities for their students. Their work is an essential part of meaningful learning and growth, both inside and beyond the classroom.

Over the past two years, our Fellows have grown as educators and young leaders, learning from their classrooms, from one another, and from the communities they serve. As they graduate, we celebrate the journey they have taken and the leaders they have become along the way.

The Fellowship is more than a two-year experience. It is a foundation for continued learning, leadership, and impact — carrying Fellows beyond their classrooms and into the many paths ahead.

The graduation ceremony brought together TFL Board Member Mr. Nazih Zeidan, Mr. George Obeid, Lead Director of LAU Academy of Continuing Education, TFL Executive Director Janine Weber-el Meouchy, Cohort 9 alumna Mariam Khalaf, Cohort 13 alumna Rozan Dakroub, and members of the Education Team. Through their reflections and stories, the graduating Fellows were reminded of what can come after the Fellowship — new opportunities, new responsibilities, continued learning, and many ways to carry their experience forward.

The day also held a moment of remembrance for Diyaa Atwi, a Cohort 16 Fellow who sadly left us during this journey. Although she was not with us physically, her memory remains part of Cohort 16 and part of the story they shared together.

To our Cohort 16 Fellows — congratulations on this milestone. May the learning and experiences you carry forward continue to shape the classrooms, communities, and paths ahead.

Every answer tells a story.

During a period of war and displacement, students across Lebanon were navigating uncertainty, change, and disruption. Creating spaces where they could express themselves, connect with one another, and feel heard became more important than ever.

"I feel like a rainbow because I'm happy."

"I feel like a storm because I'm angry."

Through activities, games, and conversations, students had the opportunity to put their feelings into words, listen to one another, and build trust.

In collaboration with nafda, six Teach For Lebanon Fellows participated in training on Aal Seha, nafda’s values-based citizenship education tool. Two Fellows implemented the activities through nafda’s Emergency Response Program.

Liliane Alam, a Teach For Lebanon, cohort 17 Fellow, reflected that some students who were usually hesitant to speak began to participate when their peers encouraged them and showed interest in hearing their thoughts.

Aal Seha has been implemented in more than 100 schools across Lebanon, including nearly half public schools, through nafda’s work in the public education system.

Sometimes, meaningful change begins by making space for every student's voice.

When war disrupted her classroom, Zahra found new ways to keep her students connected to learning — bringing lessons online while creating a space for connection, joy, and a sense of normalcy.

On the International Day to Protect Education from Attack, we’re sharing the story of Zahra, a Fellow from Cohort 17 and a science teacher from South Lebanon.

Her story reminds us that protecting education means keeping children connected to learning, even when everything around them has been disrupted.

For Teach For Lebanon Fellows, the Fellowship is about more than the work they do in the classroom. It is also about building the skills, confidence, and leadership they need to carry forward into their next chapter.
As part of our 24-month collaboration with Chalhoub Group , Cohort 16 Fellows recently took part in a CV Writing & LinkedIn Optimization session led by Chalhoub Group.

From crafting clear, ATS-friendly CVs to highlighting their achievements and optimizing their LinkedIn profiles, Fellows gained practical tools to approach future career opportunities with greater confidence.

This session marks the beginning of a series of professional development and mentorship opportunities that will support Fellows throughout the partnership.

We look forward to this partnership and to expanding opportunities for Fellows’ professional growth.

The Summer Institute (SI) is underway.

Across five weeks, Teach For Lebanon’s Cohort 18 Fellows-to-be are building the knowledge and skills they need to step into classrooms, support students, and grow as educators and leaders.

Through virtual sessions, discussions, and collaborative work, they are exploring the foundations of effective teaching, from creating safe and supportive learning environments to understanding and responding to students’ needs.

The SI also creates space to reflect, exchange ideas, and connect these foundations to the realities of the classroom.

At Teach For Lebanon, we see this every day through our youth — who believe in every child’s right to quality education and bring their ideas and energy into classrooms and communities across Lebanon.

Every journey starts with getting to know the people you are about to walk it with.

Before stepping into classrooms and beginning their Summer Institute, our Cohort 18 Fellows-to-be spent two days getting to know Teach For Lebanon from the inside.

They met the teams behind the work, visited different departments, took part in activities, asked questions, and started putting faces to the people they will be working with throughout their Fellowship journey.

Along the way, they got a glimpse of how our teams come together, how their roles connect to the bigger picture, and the support that will be there for them as they prepare to enter the classroom.

We look forward to accompanying them throughout the Summer Institute and celebrating the moment they officially become Teach For Lebanon Fellows.
