Started as young activists who recognized youth and demanding concerns in their local communitie
s. Since 1997, they have worked on several issues and played a key role in initiating demanding campaigns notably the campaigns of “my country, my hometown, my municipality”,“ the national campaign to lower the voting age to 18”, and the national campaign to adopt optional civil marriage in Lebanon”. late 2009, after a spate of political and security incidents that gripped Lebanon, political life was hampered and led the country into fading dynamics of civic and demanding efforts including the participation of youth in public affairs, the effectiveness of the associations, clubs and municipalities as well, accompanied with the absence of local and national development plans and the deteriorating economic and social situation.. This situation was the key trigger of establishment for “DELTA -Lebanese Association for Development, Education and Training”. Initiated from the declining role of the state and its institutions, it aimed at encouraging youth and civil society organizations to play collaboratively their role in handling responsibilities and contributing in development process by relying on their own resources and collaborating with official authorities and donor agencies...
Delta intentionally put their efforts in the development affairs of southern area of Mount Lebanon governorate where they relied on well-established associates with different key actors in the focus region; and it also worked on vital issues on the national level…

Delta started its mission through identifying the most permanent needs in the selected area through initiating an extensive and inclusive dialogue among relevant actors, associations, clubs, and civil society organizations … In early beginnings, the association has focused on youth issues and demands, and on awareness spreading around risky behaviors and behavioral distortions, where it founded the first national conference “Towards a National Strategy for the Prevention of Drugs”. Shortly after that, the association discovered the strong linkages between youth problems with development and livelihood issues. This led Delta to develop its action plan with additional consultations held with municipalities and organizations in the targeted region that aimed at assessing main needs for development, setting basic development plans, and connecting relevant ministries, official authorities and donors to the identified needs. In this context, Delta launched several initiatives and contributed in forming different development frames mainly “Aley development Forum”… Delta also prepared several preliminary papers and assessments to identify the most vital needs around different focus issues that are related to youth, development etc…
