일본 후쿠오카에서 주목받고 있는 청년작가 “모모타로 타테이시”를 소개합니다.
모모타로 타테이시 작가의 작품은 사람의 진짜 모습, 그리고 그 사람들로 구성된 사회에 대해 그 사회에서 살아가면서 느낀 점과 생각들을 작가의 눈높이에서 표현하고 있습니다.
사회에는 크고 작은 문제들이 있지만, 그것들은 대부분 작고 간과하기 쉬운 것들이 쌓이고 쌓여 마침내 표면적으로 드러납니다.
문제들이 하찮고 작은 것들일 수도 있지만, 깊숙하게 들여다보면 작은 문제들이 유기적으로 연결되어 있으며 그 연결됨을 찾는 순간이 작가에게 강한 영감이 됩니다.
주로 윤곽선 표현과 유기적인 선, 그리고 강조된 형상을 통하여 작품을 구성합니다.
이는 유화로 표현하는 것이 서양화에서부터 시작되었지만, 일본 애니메이션에서 많이 사용되는 윤곽선이라는 일본의 현대적인 표현을 도입하여 유화에 일본의 느낌을 더하여 표현하였습니다. 또한 윤곽선의 표현에 있어서도 직선적인 표현은 최대한 배제하고 유기적인 선으로 대체하고 있습니다.
작가는 문제 속을 들여다보면 보이는 작은 문제들이 유기적으로 이루어져 있는 각각의 키워드를 추출하여 퍼즐처럼 그림 속에 녹여냈습니다. 그림 속 각각의 오브제들 간의 관계와 의미를 고찰하면서 수수께끼를 풀 듯이 그림을 읽어 나갔으면 좋겠습니다.

Introducing Tateishi Momotaro, a young artist from Fukuoka, Japan.
Tateishi Momotaro‘s work expresses his thoughts and feelings about the real people and the society they live in, from the perspective of the artist.
There are problems in society, big and small, but most of them are small and easy to overlook, piling up and piling up until they finally come to the surface. The problems may be trivial and small, but when you look deeply into them, they are organically connected, and the moment you find that connection becomes a strong inspiration for the artist.
I mainly use outlines, organic lines, and emphasized shapes to compose my works. Although the expression of outlines in oil paintings originated in Western art, the artist adds a Japanese feel to oil paintings by introducing the modern Japanese expression of outlines, which is often used in Japanese animation. In addition, when expressing outlines, the artist avoids straight lines as much as possible and replaces them with organic lines.
The artist has extracted the keywords of each of the small problems that can be seen when looking into the problem and organically incorporated them into the painting like a puzzle. I hope that the viewer will read the painting as if solving a mystery while considering the relationship and meaning between each object in the painting.
