Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and Sudan - We see that around the world there are many places in conflicts and discords. The Korean peninsula is one of those places in which one Korean people were divided into two in 1948 as the Cold War began. Since then, having communist Democratic People's
Republic of Korea(DPRK) in the North and capitalist Republic of Korea(ROK) in the South, the two have remained divided until now even after the end of the Cold War. The unification of Germany in 1990 came to Korea as a great hope that "if such history of unification and reconciliation happened in Germany, then why not in Korea?"
70 years passed after the Korean people were spilt into two. Now is time for Korea to achieve unification and be a hope for others, spreading the idea that "if it worked in Korea, once a land of civil war, division and hatred, why not in my country? why not in an African nation suffering from an ethnic civil war? why not in a middle-eastern country undergoing religious conflicts?"
The unification of Korea, opening a new era of peace and harmony in the Far East region, shall become a historical symbol of hope - a great encouragement for all around the world who strive to make peace in their own places! We, UniKorea Foundation, want to create such a model. The unification between North and South Korea is indeed not an easy business. Yet, as little drops of water make the mighty ocean, only when we bring every single one's hearts and efforts together, will we be able to prepare for the way of this great mission.
