디디에의 30년 지기 친구인 필립 브로벨리 내외가 한국에 와 함께 강원도 영월의 ‘더한옥헤리티지’를
방문했습니다.

필립은 타히티에서 35년 이상 거주하며, 말론 브란도의 철학을 담아 만든 프라이빗 리조트 ‘더 브란도(The Brando)’의 총지배인을 오랫동안 역임한 호텔리어인데요, 이번에 동북아 최초로 한국에서 개최한 버츄오소 심포지엄 참석차 한국을 방문해 오랜만에 다시 만났습니다.

더한옥헤리티지에서의 시간은 한국의 자연과 한옥, 그리고 한식의 아름다움을 다시금 느끼게 해주는 특별한 경험이었는데요. 특히 한식 파인다이닝 ‘몬토(MONTO)’의 10코스 요리는 영월의 제철 식재료를 현대적으로 풀어내며 깊은 인상을 남겼습니다.

또 최근 1600만 관객을 돌파한 화제의 영화 ‘왕과 사는 남자’의 배경이 바로 강원도 영월이라는 사실, 알고 계셨나요? 실제 촬영이 더한옥헤리티지 인근에서 진행되었다고 하는데요, 영월단종문화제를 맞아 선보인 특별한 ‘단종밥상’도 만들었다 합니다.

고즈넉한 밤의 한옥 풍경, 정갈한 12첩 아침상, 그리고 다음 날 원주에서 먹은 푸짐한 해물손칼국수까지!

오랜 친구들과 함께 자연 속에서 보낸 따뜻하고 풍성한 시간을 영상으로 담아보았습니다.

We recently visited The Hanok Heritage in Yeongwol, Gangwon Province, together with Philippe Brovelli and his wife Christine who are longtime friends of Didier for over 30 years.

Philippe has lived in Tahiti for more than 35 years and spent decades as a hotelier, serving as the General Manager of The Brando, the private luxury resort inspired by Marlon Brando’s philosophy of respecting nature and preserving the environment. He recently visited Korea for the Virtuoso Symposium, which was held in Korea for the first time ever in Northeast Asia, and it was wonderful to reunite after such a long time.

Our time at The Hanok Heritage was a special reminder of the beauty of Korean nature, hanok architecture, and Korean cuisine. In particular, the 10-course Korean fine dining experience at MONTO left a lasting impression by reinterpreting seasonal ingredients from Yeongwol with a modern touch.

Did you also know that the recently acclaimed film The King’s Warden, which surpassed 16 million viewers, is set in Yeongwol, Gangwon Province? Some scenes were reportedly filmed near The Hanok Heritage, and for the Yeongwol Danjong Cultural Festival, a special “Danjong Table” inspired by the film was also created.

From the peaceful nighttime scenery of the hanok to the elegant 12-dish traditional Korean breakfast, and even the hearty seafood kalguksu we enjoyed in Wonju the next day, this trip was filled with warm moments shared with old friends in the heart of nature.

문을 열고 들어서는 순간, 마치 다른 세계에 들어온 듯한 공간이 펼쳐진 곳! 이번 CICI-CQ 포럼에서 동양화가 오명희 작가님의 아뜰리에를 방문했습니다.

이번에 본 오명희 작가님의 작품들에는 벚꽃과 달, 강강술래, 그리고 여성들의 이야기가 반복해서 등정했는데요, ‘한’과 ‘흥’이라는 한국적인 정서를 자신만의 방식으로 풀어내며, 금박과 자개, 옻칠 같은 전통 요소들을 현대적으로 풀어낸 작업들이 특히 인상 깊었습니다.

무엇보다 기억에 남았던 건 '아무리 긴 겨울이 있어도 결국 봄은 다시 온다'는 작가님의 말씀이었어요. 작품 속 꽃과 달, 제비의 이미지는 결국 다시 살아가게 만드는 희망처럼 느껴졌습니다.

최근 작업하신 원형 캔버스 작품들의 모티브가 된 강강술래 이야기부터 마릴린 먼로와 나혜석 작가를 함께 담아낸 작품까지, 여러분은 이번 영상 속 어떤 작품이 가장 인상 깊으셨나요?

The moment we stepped through the door, it felt as though we had entered an entirely different world. In today's CICI-CQ Forum, we visited the atelier of artist Myunghee Oh.

In her works we saw this day, themes such as cherry blossoms, the moon, Ganggangsullae, and stories of women appeared again and again. What stood out most was the way she reinterprets Korean emotions such as 'han' and 'heung' through her own artistic language, using traditional elements like gold leaf, mother-of-pearl, and lacquer techniques.

The flowers, moons, and swallows in her paintings felt like symbols of hope that allow us to keep moving forward.

From the story behind her recent circular canvases inspired by Ganggangsullae to works that place Marilyn Monroe alongside Na Hye-seok, which artwork in this video stayed with you the most?

오늘은 오랜만에 에드워드 리 셰프와 그의 가족, 그리고 그의 오랜 친구 가족과 함께 특별한 부활절 점심을 함께 했습니다. 한남동 카펠라 레지던스 서울 ‘더 루프’에서 봄 공기와 함께한 이 자리는 음식과 분위기 모두
완벽한 시간이었어요.

부활절을 맞아 준비된 전채 이스터 에그는 단순한 달걀이 아니라 부드러운 필링과 색감까지 신경 쓴 섬세한 요리였고, 전통적으로 부활절에 즐겨 먹는 햄 요리까지 더해져 식탁의 분위기를 한층 더 특별하게 만들어
주었습니다.

특히 이날의 하이라이트였던 갈비 라비올리는 한 입 먹는 순간 “하나 더 먹어도 될까요?”라는 말이 절로 나올만큼 인상적인 맛이었고, 결국 제 용기(?)로 모두가 한 번씩 더 먹은 즐거운 순간도 있었습니다.

하지만 돌아보면, 가장 오래 남는 건 음식이 아니라 함께한 사람들이었습니다. 좋은 음식은 사람 사이를 더 가깝게 만들어준다는 걸 다시 느낀 시간이었습니다.

Recently I shared a special Easter lunch with Chef Edward Lee, his family, and his longtime friend’s family. Set at 'The Roof' at Capella Residence Seoul in Hannam-dong, it was a perfect moment where the spring air, the atmosphere, and the food all came together beautifully.

The Easter egg starter prepared for the occasion was more than just a simple egg- it was a delicate dish with a smooth filling and carefully crafted colors. Alongside it, the traditional Easter ham added another layer of warmth and festivity to the table.

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the galbi ravioli. The moment I took a bite, it was so impressive that I couldn’t help but ask, “Could I have one more?," and thanks to my little burst of courage, everyone ended up enjoying a second serving together.

But what stayed with me the longest wasn’t the food, but the people I shared it with. It was a reminder that good food doesn’t just fill you up. It brings people closer together.

이야기와 감상이 겹치는 순간, 공간은 하나의 ‘여정’이 됩니다.

4월 21일, Korea CQ 에서는 오명희 작가님의 아뜰리에를 방문했습니다.

미술 작품이 둘러싼 공간 속에서, 특별한 한식 도시락과 갖가지 과일, 와인과 디저트를 곁들여
서로의 취향과 감상을 나누는 풍성한 저녁이었습니다.

이번 아뜰리에 방문은 작품을 감상하는 시간을 넘어 오명희 작가님의 예술 세계를 따라가는 깊이 있는 여정이었습니다.

2017년 런던 사치갤러리, 2022년 베네치아 파라초 모라 특별전, 케냐 나이로비 국립박물관 특별전 등 해외에서 러브콜이 끊이지 않는 동양화가 오명희 작가님의 다양한 작품을 감상하며
노스탈지아에서 시작해 절정과 환희로, 그리고 삶의 여러 결을 지나 ‘한’을 넘어 희망으로 확장되는 작품 세계와 창작의 이야기를 들을 수 있었습니다.

작품에 흠뻑 빠져들어 작품 속에 담긴 여러 감정들과 사연을 들으니 참석자들 모두 감성이 촉촉하게 된 소중한 시간이었습니다.

아뜰리에 현장에서의 소중한 순간을 여러분과 공유하고자 합니다.

When story and reflection overlap, the space becomes a journey.

On April 21, Korea CQ visited artist Myunghee Oh’s atelier.

Surrounded by her artworks, we spent a rich and meaningful evening sharing our tastes and impressions over a special Korean dosirak, a variety of fruits, and desserts paired with wine.

This visit to the atelier went beyond simply appreciating artworks - it became a profound journey through the artistic world of Myunghee Oh.

We had the opportunity to appreciate a diverse range of works by Myunghee Oh, an oriental painter who has received continuous international recognition, with exhibitions at the Saatchi Gallery in London (2017), a special exhibition at Palazzo Mora in Venice (2022), and the National Museum of Nairobi in Kenya.

As we explored her works, we also listened to the meanings behind them and her artistic philosophy.
Her artistic narrative unfolds from nostalgia to climax and joy, moving through the layers of life, transcending han into hope.

Immersed in her art, and hearing the emotions and stories embedded within each piece, it became a deeply moving experience that resonated with all the participants.

We are delighted to share with you these precious moments from the meaningful Korea CQ forum!
